Hi:
I have this problem since day one when I use the 6 fps continuous shooting. I always have 1 or 2 very under-exposure photos in between.
Is this normal? I bought 2 brand new Pentax prime lenses and they all exhibit this problem. Slow memory card?

Yes, it is. I like the HDR function. I can still download it on Sept 24.

I passed by a shop and they has a K-5ii body on sale for $599. Brand new with warranty.
I am using a K-r and everything is good with it. Should I go for this upgrade? Someone told me just keep the K-r body as a back up but I don't know why I need 2 bodies.
What are the differences between K-5II and K-5IIs?

I am very happy with my K-r.
A local electronics store has K30 on sale. Body only is $399.
I am debating to myself should I go for it?

I want to use something else rather than Powerpoint. I like the zoom effect from Prezi but it is cloud base. I need to create a portable file for no Internet playback.
Any suggestions?

Hello:
I have some old photos but they are in pretty good shape. I want to put them in digital form and some may need touch up.
First question:
Should I use a scanner to digitize them or a good macro lens and DSRL (Pentax K-r). I have a feeling DSLR is a better way but what kind of set up I should use? I think smallest aperture, lowest ISO and tripod.
Second question:
What kind of software techniques people use to restore and touch up old photos? I just know clone and heal brush.
Any other suggestions and hints.

I think the difference between 6 and 9 is huge.
As far as I know, 9 has brush and layer.
I spent a few hours with 6 and my gut feel is not worth to continue.
I am thinking either LR5 or DxO 9 and I am still researching.

I have a quick question for stormtech:
When you "ran photo through DxO and then did the rest of editing in Acdsee", do you create a TIFF file in between or the software does it for you?

Thanks,
I guess the TIFF is pretty big. Does the computer take a long time to hand over from LR to FXlab?

This may be a simple question but since I don't have LR so I need someone to confirm my conjectures.
I have a pef file so it cannot be opened by PhotoFX. I use LR to open the pef file and then use the plugin function to call Topaz PhotoFX. Then, the PhotoFX will launch and have the image data from the pef file. I guess what it does in between is generate a TIF or PNG file to pass the image data from one software to another. (If someone can explain this, I would like to learn too).
Now my question is if I need to do more LR editing after the PhotoFX editing, should I save the file in TIF format and then go back to LR and open the TIF file? Or there is a better way to do it. Similar question is if I do some LR editing before calling the plugin software, will LR pass the original image file to the plugin software or the one after LR editing?
I hope you understand my question as I am new to all of these software. So far, I only use Faststone to do my processing.

Thank you Heie to introduce Topaz Denoise. I think it does the magic. Can you tell me the settings you use in the Topaz Denoise? I will download it and try it myself.

Thanks.
I think I got it. Stay below 1600 and don't care about the physical behind. If I go beyond 1600, turn on NR. This is how it is designed for. But still be prepare to expert noise as ISO goes higher.

I didn't know about this part. So beyond 1600, it is digital synthesized? Like digital zoom.

I did some stage photography the other day and used very high ISO settings 6400 and 12800. I shot in RAW and Pentax K-r with kit lens.
I know it will be noisy but I am wondering if there is post processing technique to improve it?
Here is an example with just tone curve changed. I use Faststone, Lightzone, and PS.
