Thanks to everyone who put forward their submissions for this P&S comp.

My choice for 1st place is MtnBiker's fantastic B&W "Snowboarding at Jackson Hole" with the eye being drawn to the snowboarder with the strong lines of trees either side and the branch above the boarder forming a frame, The snow providing the movement to give the shot an action feel. Great shot!

This was closely followed by zman's "Roller Derby Girl" where the fast movement of the panning camera and the girl combine with the relatively slow shutter speed to give the shot a very active feeling of energy and motion.

Congratulations to MtnBiker - and onwards to #127...

A firmware update with auto stacking . Choose the number of shots, say 5, and the camera will automatically take at f2.8, f5.6, f11, f16 and f22. Would be even more useful with a power zoom lens where the camera could divide the zoom range by the number if shots using either a fixed aperture or varied between a range.

One of the reasons I set this one is because we're not allowed dslr's into most sporting events. So most of my spectator type shots are with the Canon Powershot sx710hs. This allows for the following images to be taken from way back.

PLM for sure. That focus speed us fantastic. If they could make a 50-500mm in PLM variant, I'd have one yesterday already.

If I had to only pick one body and one lens, I'd choose the KP & 55-300 plm. You'll soon work out whether you need to go longer or shorter. The 3 wheel system is a dream to use once you're off the (very capable) auto setting.

LBA means I also need my old 50-500mm f4-6.3 sigma for afl football and 10-20mm f3.5 sigma for landscapes and astro. The various manual 50's cos they're cheap and so on...

We know that Pentax "doesn't do sport", so how about your P&S cameras?

Post your sport photos or sports related photos (pre/post game celebrations, fans on the way to the game etc)

Rules:

1. Always have fun!

2. Cameras:

No cameras with sensors larger than 1" (some exceptions below).
No large format or camera typically requiring a tripod to use.
No interchangeable lens cameras (some exceptions below).
No 35mm (D)SLRs or any camera weighing over 1kg.

Cameras permitted (cameras listed as acceptable here supersede rules above):
Mobile phones, old and new, iPods, tablets, toy cameras.
Fixed-lens 35mm and smaller-format film and digital cameras (Fuji X100 and GR OK).
Interchangeable or fixed-lens 110film SLRs and Pentax Q.

ANY CAMERA BRAND ALLOWED.

3. Entries will close August 31st, 2018 midnight EDT.

4. Maximum image dimensions are 1024x768 (ish) pixels.

5. List camera brand and model with entry for all to see, and exposure data would be nice.

6. No restrictions on when the entries were taken.

7. Contest winner determines the rules, selects theme, sets closing date and judges the next competition.

8. Enter up to three images, however you may change your entries as many times as you like up to the contest closing date/time.

9. Please indicate in some way where the photo was taken (even if 'where i live in the Midwest'), what places you there, etc. (nice idea Dave)

Thanks very much everybody, it's really good to find out it's not only me that likes the shot!

A great idea David, this theme will be hard to follow up on.

S8+ again. If I'd gone for the camera he would have moved.

Sunrise over the pond.

Just at the end of my street. Hopped out of the car in the way to work. There is a coffee shop to the left of the photo and the owner rushed out with his DSLR when he saw me taking a few snaps.

S8+.

I ordered the last large DCxpert / CRK had, but the couriers lost it. So I ordered the medium with my refund, 20%off this time. :) Even though the actual difference in measurements are small, it definitely feels chunkier. Unfortunately I really think the large would be better with the 50-500, but its not bad.

No, normally when processing the screen is black. This just had a frozen image on it, with the 9 quadrant grid. No other info. Even when the camera was moved the image stayed the same.
