SOLD! Well both of my sigma lenses! I'll keep my MX and maybe invest in some more old glass and an APS-C digicam someday.
But most importantly a fuji GSW should be on the way shortly!

Thank you all for your advice.

I am pretty sure that there are tons of film/developer combinations that would work for you.

When I was looking for what would work for me I usually went to flickr and checked out some of the scans.

Flickr: B&W film / developer combinations

After that it's all about finding a lab that uses the right chemicals!

Do you know of any 6x9 folding as wide or wider than 65mm?

There is some sort of sport finder on the diacord... But I don't use it.
The thing is that I plan on investing in a Fuji GSW to shoot landscape, the 6x6 becoming my portrait camera.
I do find that the waist level finder can be disturbing when shooting landscapes, but not so much for people... But even then, I am pretty sure that with a little more practice, and if you trust your camera strap and gravity, it should not be much of a problem!

Well, thank y'all for the help! I am just more confused now.

You all are right, there is no need to rush... Other than the fact that I will probably quit my job to go travel sometimes before the summer! (If you like photography you might just call me crazy as I work for the largest studios in Europe...)

So you actually make me reconsider! I am probably just going to sell my sigma lenses. I figured I would not get much more than $300 for my MX and my two lenses. But with the two sigmas I can by a good wide angle MF...

It's all about the compromises!

Thank you again!

Thank you for the head's up on the rules and regulations...

I think that I am still within the law here. I have a pretty good idea of what my gear is worth and I know that If i was to make the change I would not lose any money, or very little.

So this is besides the point!

So thank you Nesster for you kind advice.
And to all, you will probably see some stuff on the marketplace section shortly!

Hello,

I recently invested in a 6x6 TLR and I love it. The more I think about it, the more I think that my Pentax Gear is going to be sitting on a shelf somewhere and get less and less use so I am thinking about selling it to invest in a completely different system.

So here are my arguments:

For regular daily snapshots I don't need the quality brought by a SLR, I am just going to invest in an expert P&S like a LX5 or the likes.

For all my serious work with a normal lens I can go to the 6x6. The image quality will always be better than a 135, and being 6'4, the waist level finder seams more appropriate.

For the wide angle, which is my favorite, I am planing to use the money I will get from my pentax gear to invest in something like a Fuji GSW690.

I know that a medium format will always give me better quality than the 135 and if I need portability the new compacts will be just fine...
I am quite puzzled so I figured that if anyone could convince me not to make this change it would be you, Pentax lovers!

So if you see any reason why I should not change, just let me know! If you don't see any reason for me not to do it, you can expect to see my stuff on the marketplace soon!

Thank you very much!

Hello,

I will be visiting Pittsburg for a few days next week and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a camera store there.
I was hoping to use my euros to buy some cheap glass.

Thank you!

Want a new lens

Well, only you can really answer that question.

Do you feel like you need something on the wide side or on the long side?

You don't have any specialty lenses like a macro or a fisheye. Are you interested in this type of photography?

If you answer these questions it will be much easier for us to help you out.

The viewfinder is just amazing. The camera is very easy to use.
I just pt my first roll of film in there and switched to my M 50/1.7 right away.
Seams like an awesome combo... Can't wait to see what the pictures turn out like!

I am french, lived in the US for 5 years (I was there in 2001) and the difference between the french media and the american media (on the topic of the other country) is that there is actual facts behind what the French media talks about. When France is mentioned in the American media (you are right it is not very often) it is always in a negative way...

What is with some American's obsession with France? What the hell did we ever do to you? Is it because we live longer? Have some decent health care? Are not as fat? Because we don't buy BS like "weapons of mass destructions are in IRAQ and Sadam wants to kill us all" (which I guess makes us traitors... or cowards... I don't know, I couldn't figure out that one)? Or is it just because the main stream media wants you to hate us???

I don't know, I just can't figure it out... (though I have a pretty good idea!)

Especially since we are in NATO now! We are nice little puppets just like the brits and the Canadians. Don't worry, if you go to IRAN Sarkozy will follow (Can't wait to see the strikes for that one!). So you can go back to liking us

Mostly medium and large format, but there is also quite a few people that still use 35mm film... They also shoot mostly with rangefinders, but some still use SLRs.

Actually Nikon's old glass also works... and they went FF, and people still buy some new lenses.
I think that Pentax does care about FF, because since the Pixel race is over, they need to find a new selling argument for ther bodies.
Now FF is hot, so Pentax will come up with a FF body. They are probably just waiting for Samsung to get their Sh*t together.
And I am sorry to dissapoint you but as of now, film is still a liveable support. A lot of pros still shoot film, especially when you are talking about artistic photography and black and white. Now wether you want to admit it or not, digital is just an alternative to film, or film is just an alternative to digital, depending on what you like to do. Of course, it is not in the industry's interest to tell you that, but as consumer's it is our duty to use our brain and not buy the BS they try to sell us...

How come leica can do it and Pentax can't?

It is just another creative option. Shallow depth of fields are fun... shallower is funner.
I personnally think that there is room for a lens like that (not the f0.95 that's a bit over the top, but I would not mind if they brought back the f1.2), even just to make a technical statement.
Pentax is know for their primes, so they should have some variety and quality out there.

Two little links here:
Sigma | 500mm f/4.5 EX DG APO Autofocus Lens for Pentax | 184109

and

Pentax Lens Review Database - 50mm F1.2

So there are some expensive lenses out there, and Pentax was once able to make a f1.2...

Leica Camera AG - Photography - NEW: LEICA NOCTILUX-M 50 mm f/0.95 ASPH.

50mm f0.95!

I know, that large an aperture is a bit too much to ask, but why not a f1 or even just a f1.2 with AF? Right now, only canon has something that fast! Bringing a lens like this to the table would probably make a lot of serious enthusiasts reconsider what Pentax has to offer!

But anyways... Someday I will be rich and I will buy a leica... maybe :(

The specs are on par with what the other brands are offering... So is the price. But from all of the reviews I have seen, the K200D is better than the XSi, D40x...
Sure it is a bit bigger but honestly, does 100g make that much difference?
