Item for Sale
Pentax Prime 50mm F1.7 lens legacy SHARP!

Asking Price
$50

Item Location
Albany, NY

Item Description
Pentax SMC Multi-coated 50mm f/1.7 Lens

A very nice little prime that is bitingly sharp, especially stopped down 1-2 stops. Wide open it is still better than most zooms stopped down.
Loved this lens for concerts or "grab" photography.
Has 2 scratches on top AROUND the front element, probably from cleaning the interior. This is the reason for the bargain price. Lens optics are super nice however.
Sold my pentax gear so this gem has to go too.

DxO Batch/single RAW conversion Software for D-7 Ver6

Asking Price
$ 75.00

Item Location

Item Description
This is DxO Optics famous raw conversion software. It is the best I have ever found for converting the K-7 RAW files shot at high ISO. It puts the K-7 on par with the other 2 big name cameras.
Not only that, it's batch conversion system is the best I have used. Compares to Lightroom 3, which I am currently using for my Nikon D700 (DxO was too expensive). With module for K-7 (or other Pentax)

Winners sends his info to me and I will change the ownership on DxO site. I have emailed them and they said this was the process to transfer ownership and license.

I have used it to batch convert 300 files at a time when shooting night games at high ISO. Dynamite software. Check it out here:

Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 superwide lens for Pentax

Asking Price

Item Location
Albany, NY

Item Description
The Sigma 10-20mm f/4-5.6 EX DC lens

...offers an ultra-wide zoom solution to digital cameras, and was exclusively designed to suit the characteristics of digital SLR cameras. The super wide-angle capability of this zoom lens (equivalent range of approx. 16-32mm when used with a digital SLR camera) makes it a very powerful tool for both indoor and landscape photography.

DC lenses are exclusively designed for digital SLR cameras. The image circle (rear of lens) is made to match the smaller dimensions used for the image sensor on digital cameras. As a result these lenses are also more compact and lightweight, and are better matched to digital SLR cameras.• EX lens series denotes excellence of engineering and new technology
• Correction for various types of aberration provided by three SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element and two aspherical lenses
• Minimum focusing distance of 9.4" (24 cm) at all focal lengths
• The IF (Internal Focusing) design offers smooth and fast autofocus and non-rotating filter attachment

Why am I selling? I am moving to full frame and it will not work with my camera. It has been a wonderful, sharp, and versatile lens. Great color and great CA control. although super wide, lines still stay relatively straight. There was no PP done to straighten the RR car and switcher. Please check the photos actually taken with this lens:

Focal length equivalent to 82.5mm to 450mm in the 35mm format

Why am I selling? I am moving to full frame and it will not work with my camera. It has been a wonderful, sharp, and versatile lens. The only issue I have had with it is the silly little "window" pentax put into the lens hood. The plastic piece fell down a mountain the first time I used it. It's useless anyway and usually points towards the bottom. You can get a new hood on ebay for $5 so I'll deduct that if its a real problem.
Thanks for looking. Here are some pictures taken with this lens. Obviously, it is also a great portrait lens!

Item for Sale
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Pentax

Asking Price
450

Item Location
Albany, NY

Item Description
Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro for Pentax
..is a standard zoom lens which provides high level performance for both Pentax DSLR cameras and Pentax 35 mm film cameras. The Sigma Lens employs three aspherical lenses to get optimum color aberration compensation and constant f/2.8 aperture at all focal lengths. The constant f/ 2.8 aperture of the Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro creates smooth background blur that draws attention to the photographic subject. The lens materials of Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro are lead-and-arsenic-free, ecological glass. This is also a decent Sigma Macro Lens with a minimum focusing distance of 40 cm and maximum magnification of .26x. You get wonderful details of subjects with this Sigma Macro Lens.

I REALLY hate to sell this lens since it is the best “normal” zoom I have ever had for any of my Pentax cameras. My17-70mm was excellent as well, but this lens excels in accuracy and wins hands-down in auto-focus speed. It is also exceptionally sharp, right to the edges. Please check the sample images below for this lens's performance.

Three weeks after I purchased this lens I was offered an incredible deal on a Nikon D700 that I just couldn't pass up, so I went full frame. So the lens is almost new. I was going to keep my Pentax equipment at first, but the economic realities of buying full frame lenses make the sale necessary. I probably would have purchased it again in a Nikon mount, but Nikon has a 24-85 lens which is nearly as fast, but has a longer reach. My loss is your gain. Enjoy. Also check out my K-7 and other lenses I will be adding soon. Thanks

Pentax K-7 Digital Camera body with extras

Item Description
Pentax K-7 Digital Camera

I'm sorry to say, I have decided to sell my beloved K-7. It was a great camera and I got some fabulous photos (and made a bit of money) with it. Unfortunately, I was offered an unbelievable deal on a full frame Nikon, so I took the leap. I was hoping to keep this camera, but full frame lenses are not cheap, so here it goes. You will also find listed here some lenses, including a sigma 24-70, which is the best, fastest, lens I ever had for this camera. Check it out.
Beyond what is normally included with a new camera, you will find an extra pentax battery (OEM), a 4 Gb Sd memory card, and a remote release (10 foot). The LCD has always had a screen protector, so it is pristeen. Other than that, the camera has a few minor scuffs from use (I do actually use the camera), but check the photos- it looks pretty good. But wait, the real clincher here is that I will transfer to the lucky buyer the most valuable imaging tool for this camera- the DxO Optics Raw Conversion Software to help you get high ISO pics as good as Canon and Nikon! Check their website and read the reviews- the software is awesome! This alone is worth $100. License IS transferrable and I will do so as soon as you take posession of the camera and all is OK. You probably already know this, but the basic desription for the camera is as follows:
The Pentax K-7 features a rugged, yet compact body design with a 14.6 megapixel CMOS sensor rebuilt from the ground up. Packed with advanced features such as HD Movie Capture, 100% Field of View, 5.2 FPS and a 3 inch LCD Screen with Live View. The Pentax K-7 is compatible with every PENTAX lens ever made, the K-7 offers an abundance of long- anticipated new and improved features that are exclusive to the camera and combine to make it a tremendous photography tool.

All shots for producing this photo were also taken with this camera:

I found an exif reading program and shutter count is 7546.- WK
So take a look- consider the extras, and go for it!

Item Description
300mm f/2.8 Tamron Prime with PKA adapter and 2X

Here's a great old veteran for you. This lens has been places most people only dream of. Purchased from a news photographer and used extensively here and abroad. Lens was in poor shape with scrapes all over and front lens scratched, so I had it refurbished by a repair facility. New front element was installed and the entire lens was gone over. Focus is now smooth as ever. I took care of the exterior appearance to make it look as it does today.
Here's your chance to own a great big piece of glass in nice optical condition. Please look carefully at the photos and pictures taken recently with a D700.
Yes, the lens will cover full frame as well as APS-C!
Lens hood is original, although it appears to have been shortened a bit from the original at one point. No matter, it works just fine and the bayonet mount works well. Comes with tamron SP BBAR 2X teleconverter 01F.
about the lens:
Tamron SP 300mm F/2.8 LD-IF Model 60B: This lens has a revised optical design compared to Tamron's earlier Model 107B, features internal focusing (IF), and features two low dispersion (LD) elements which are shown in green in the above optical layout. The addition of internal focusing required the addition of three additional internal lens elements for IF plus a redesign of both the front and rear optical groups. This lens is slightly sharper and has significantly higher contrast compared to the earlier Model 107B. Like the earlier 107B, this lens has very slight amounts of off-axis lateral color and coma, but these off-axis aberrations have been greatly reduced. Overall, this is a very sharp lens with performance which was not easily surpassed by similar OEM lenses of the era.
Lines per MM range from 51 at f/2.8 to 64 at f/8 without teleconverter.
All fine and good, but what about THIS particular lens?
Here are actual pictures of the lens and shots taken with it so you can make your own decisions:

Pentax K-Mount. Lens will work fine with newer Pentax digital cameras in manual mode. Super fast wide open 1.4 aperture means superior low light shooting. This particular lens is clean and fungus/dirt free. Shutter leaves are clean and snappy. Focus is smooth. Front and rear caps. The cat was shot with this lens at f2! This is one fine lens! This will be a great addition to anyone's prime lens collection. Why do I call it a Rikenon? Ricoh made these lenses for Sears at the time. There is NO Ricoh pin on mount so it can safeely be used on any K-mount camera.

My last "superzoom" was the Konica-Minolta A2, which was actually a very satisfying camera to use. I have many great shots taken with it, but 7X was all the "superzoom" available at the time. So I jumped to an E300. It was OK, but the upgrade 14-54 lens was nothing to write home about and the sigma 50-200 (not Oly's fault) felt like a toy. Just as I was about to jump to an E-1, the K10D was announced. That looked just like what I was looking for, so I went for it.
Of course, that didn't mean I gave up p&s cameras.
The best camera in the world is the one you have with you when something amazing happens. And going back and forth to work every day I don't normally carry my DSLR. I Do however, carry a little beltpack which contains my Panny FZ18. Always there, always ready.
And if I am going out formally, and where a beltpack would be out of place, I slip my A650 into the jacket pocket!

Hello all!
I have been lurking and posting on DPReview for a while in anticipation of getting a K10d. It finally arrived, but I had a problem with it. So I searched for an answer and (somewhat obliquely) found it here. :D
So I decided to join. Came over from having an Oly E300 and a long list of point-and-shoots, including a Minolta A2 (still sorry I sold it) an FZ7 (pretty happpy with that, except most pics need some NR) and a Ricoh R4 (would be REALLY happy with that except that the auto-focus keeps breaking on me).
I work as a designer in Albany, NY, but have much experience in photography, both amateur and professional. Cut my teeth on 8x10 sheet film in studio settings for advertising in the 80's, but decided to get out of photography professionally to broaden my horizons. Now I am considering getting back into it.
I have many other interests, including astronomy, computers, model and real railroads, and a few other odds and ends.
Thanks for checking my bio and I hope to have some great discussions and share some great pictures.
