Thanks everyone for your input and advice.
I might try the tape with some colour film next.
I will check out a repair place local to me, but failing that I will see how much the guy in Brisbane costs :)

The interesting thing is that the other pictures in the album look to me to be completely fine.
The ones taken at night is the tokina 20-35mm. The other shots are a combination of the pentax smc k 55mm 1.8 and tamron 35-80 sp.
Not sure how much a cla will be. I imagine the light seals will be a lot cheaper to do first. I can live with it if the shutter only has problems at high and low speeds.

I acquired a ME super and for the heck of it decided to shoot some film through it.
Most of the results turned out nice, but there there are some which looks a bit suss. Being a film newbie I have no idea what problems I am looking at. I imagine maybe light seals + shutter?
Top left some flare like thing:
Band of uneven exposure (slightly brighter than rest of frame) on RHS:
and again...
Band of darkness on top right, pretty certain this was shot at 1/2000:
Flare or light leak on top right?
and again:
But in general I really like the results:

Oh, I did not remember that the ground slopes upwards in the right hand side, which is why it looked funny to me. I was hand panning all our panaromas because we don't have a tripod. There is also a joining problem between the centre and right frames, because of the dynamic range, hopefully if I play with the exposure of the right frame and then redo the stitch it will be better. The jpeg atm is very very dark because of the sun, but ICE does not take DNG files. I will try and do the horizon correction if I can find it in ICE.
The picture is of Karakul lake in Tajikistan. Unfortunately while we were there it was very much fine weather in the morning, and bad in the afternoon. In fact, that day we were caught in a snowstorm. But I very much wanted the sun flare in the picture because I was trying to capture the sun peeking out of mountains dusted with virgin snow. Thank you for your comments, they were very helpful.

I am not sure where I went wrong, but the horizon looks funny. I want it to be straight, but I am not sure whether it is Microsoft ICE or the fact that my camera was not level when I shot the picture.
Do I use the inbuilt rotation function in ICE, or do I do something in lightroom first to the individual pictures before stitching?

Thanks elliott.
amoringello, I have not run into speed issues as I am a beginner user, and have no idea what Lightroom is capable of :) So far all I have done is played with contrast and exposure.

I am looking for software to start learning PP on. Darktable is free so I would like to use it if able. Has anyone tried both? What are the advantages/disadvantages of each? Thanks!

I think I am going to do what Boris suggested, but I predict the end result will be that I keep the af lens for convenience. I was trying to shot my niece last weekend and she just moves too quickly.

I've thought about buying the DA 50 1.8 but the problem is that swmbo will only let me keep one of these lenses. I use a K01 so focusing is not a problem, as most of the time I am taking pictures of the interiors of churches, with a bit of portraiture. On the other hand I find it impossible to focus on my wife's Kr, so the DA has the advantage there.
I guess I can get about 50 for my current lens, which will make the DA about 100. What do people think?

I became a pentax dslr user after buying a K-r for my wife while it is being massively discounted in Australia. It turns out that I am obsessed with bokeh and lens buying, an affliction which I gather affects many people on this forum. In fact, it was lens buying which brought me here: I looked at reviews of the Tokina SD 70-210mm before buying it. Shortly after, on that same day, I bought a pentax-f 28-80mm and pentax-f smc 70-210, alongside a film camera I have no idea what to do with.
I then made my first post on this forum to buy a 135mm prime lens from a fellow forum member. Today, I added a 50mm XR rikenon to the collection, and now I reckon I just need to hold out for a 28mm.
Much poorer, I should really just consolidate and actually learn how to use these manual focus lenses. My bad eyesight does not really help, and I have no idea what a diopter is. ;)

Oh dear, I messed something up. Anyway, I can't reply to your pm until I post another message. I am definitely interested. Just need to check two things:
1) How should I pay you, I am thinking paypal?
2) What mount is this lens?
Also, the pics seem to show that the lenses are optically very clean, is this true?
I'll take this to pm once I can do it. Cheers, Alex

I tried sending you a pm to ask about postage costs to Sydney, Australia, but can't as I do not have more than 2 posts. Perhaps if you pm me I will be able to reply? Thanks.
