Not easy question... I’d just say the slow 100WR Macro ... Just used it. But this is not fear. The excellent 70Ltd, or 31Ltd, or 20-40Ltd ... which one? I can’t say...

I know that 100/2.8 Macro is a Tokina design. But no matter of it - this is my favorite lens!

If You allow me, please try with a simple object, i.e. a plane newspaper in good light conditions.
Make shots at normal and oblique direction and from different distances. And afterwords I'd make any conclusions about sharpness ans AF.

I do love my 70/2.4 and 31/1.8 as well. Well, reviews are interesting but this tow lenses make so beautiful pictures.

I used to work with SMC macro 50/2.8 for some time and still regret selling it. Fantastic lens for me...

I think that any good technical solutions are primarily purpose/object oriented. In our case lets say - the result to be more pleasant to our eyes.

Tiny bubbles? Dust on the film? Or some other kind of contamination? Too old films may prove to be grainy but not in this manner.
