That's the best way to think of a K10. Its limitations are very similar to film.

Yes an excellent camera. Old tech now of course but still very capable.

I shot film for years before digital. It makes you think about composition, especially if using slide film. There's no cropping on a projector!

Scanned Kodachrome slide, shot with Prakitica LTL + M42 50mm F1.4 Pentax Super Takuma ( back in 1981). My Epson scanner has a CCD sensor. Greek Sunset by Russ Vickers, on Flickr

Yes it was a great film. That 50mm was all I had at the time but the two together could capture fantastic detail, and the colours were great.
I also tried K25 once or twice, not easy in a country not famed for its sunshine! The emulsion was so thick you could see the image by just reflecting light off the slide at an angle.
Slide shooting was great for forcing one to chose and frame the shot carefully.

I went to Italy including Rome during the summer. I didn't see many DSLR's period. Most folks use a phone these days.

I know the feeling. Carrying and using a camera can distract from just enjoying the moment.

Maybe a K5, you can use all your lenses with it.

From today's Coronation in London; St James's Park, and crowds in the The Mall, a long road leading to\from Buckingham Palace. The crowds were dense and I decided to use my phone to get a picture of the new King as he went by. I couldn't use my K5 because I 'd have to hold the camera high to get a shot and couldn't be sure of what I'd capture. Kit lens and a little PP in Photolab 3

The K100d Super was my first DSLR, it takes nice pictures. I think the 6mp resolution has a quality which I can only describe as 'smooth'. Mine was a reconditioned one from Pentax, I still have it but it's been superseded by my K10d, plus recently a K5ii and a Sigma 10-20mm. The K5 pics are excellent even straight from the camera, not CCD but not disappointing either.

I was in McDonalds in Victoria Station, London about 3 or 4 years ago and I heard a strange and very loud roaring sound coming from somewhere in the station. Finishing quickly I went to investigate and it was the Flying Scotsman parked on a platform venting steam! Not sure why, but it was the platform the Pullman coaches always leave from so I guess it was a very special trip. No camera to hand though :(

I think people use 'beloved' on sale items to imply they have been well looked after. It doesn't guarantee a thing of course.

The K1 outshoots the K10 but relative to their age difference its not a lot.
