Some recent pics:
Taken a couple of days apart - not the same mantis. Oddly enough, I had recently been admiring images of Mantis by other photographers on Flickr and musing that it had been some years since I had spotted one myself, then spied one on 3 different days in the space of 6-10 days! Just barely within the monster's minimum focusing distance with these shots.
So why with the 150-450mm? It was on the camera, while I prowled my back yard hoping for a bird (or even a big butterfly or two??) when I spotted the bee. And the 100mm Macro can get so picky with focus on moving targets. Went back the next day with my 55-300mm PLM, but no luck. End of story. Enjoy. (??) K3P24137_DxO K3P24132_DxO K3P24127_DxO-1 |

Need to visit this thread more often - I tend to stick to 2 or 3 Lens-specific threads. Some quality pics here.
A few of my recent shots (with the K3 iii):
With the 100mm Macro. K3P24614_DxO
With the 150-450mm zoom. K3P24477_DxO
With the 100mm Macro. PETE4684_DxO
Again with the 150-450mm zoom. K3P24495_DxO
I did take another shot of this Sulphie feasting that was a tad sharper than this one, but find this one with it using a claw to hold its meal more appealing.

Top shot messes with my eyes, due to the shape of the parrot's head, but the bottom capture is outstanding.

An immature Bald eagle that is molting into its next stage of maturity(except now during the winter). The various shades of brown at this age is quite striking. I'm guessing about 1 1/2 years old. Shot with a K3III and the 560. I purchased the lens used and have used it almost every day for about 6 months. So far so good. It's a love hate relationship for sure. It can produce some outstanding images. But CA control is not very good for what it sold for new. In comparison, the 150-450 is a reliable bargain. That being said, I'm not getting rid of it anytime soon.

Coopers Hawk today outside livingroom window. K3iii 55-300 PLM at 170mm through glass window. Cropped some. I posted a close up head shot in the 300mm plus Lens Club, and another of it looking in the window in the Yardbirds thread.

Great detail! I wish I could get this sharpness with the TC on my 150-450.
