Sledger ya misunderstood.... 2 seperate issues but both D/L were on the same page... [page you mentioned] it still wont work for update 105// but found an indirect link to 105 and has beed D/L w/no problems..... I am going to try out yer link to Faststone viewer.... anything gotta be simpler to navagate than silypix... thanx again for the Flagstone tip..... joe

I went to the site and D/L the up-date for silkypix no problem!! but when I try to D/L the 105 update the computer says the page cant be viewed... is the site closed on weekends? or are my settings incorrect to see the page? any Ideas?. I didnt have this problem when D/L update 104 also I really do not like the silkypix site is there a different site that others use to tweek/view/ D/L photos other than silkypix?

the shiney RED is fantastic looking w/ black lenses...... It lis by far my best choice..... 30 dollars more but glad I got it.... gets lots of ooohs and ahhhhas

what is the exact e-mail address you use when writing them.... I called and spoke w/ them,,, they never gave a call back; sooo post the addy and we can all send our mail to same address... if they gey enoughf complaints... squeaky wheel gets the oil

after all the info I went with your advice and so now I too am waiting for the firmware update I purchased the 58AF2 I thank everyone on site for all your help in my decision making.... I feel I picked the best choice.... again thank you all very much
I have written as well concerning the up date we should keep each other in touch a heads up for us both Ill post If I get a reply

after d/l update 1.04 to my desktop [should I do more, anything missed] with the/ the icon on desktop.... I hook up the camera to the computer and w/ charged batt and formatted blank card in.... I plugged it in and turned it on,, w/ and w/o pressing the menu button the screen stays black,, after turning it off and un-PLUGGING it, then turn it back on to find screen Ok ..... am I missing something?? I followed the sequence in the pentax site numerous times, should I be doing something w/ the icon on the desktop first/more... would that cause a black/blank screen on the K30 has anyone else experenced this????

D/L uptate 1.04 to computer desktop.... icon there ... what to do next .... d/l into plugged in camera... right??? cant seem to d/l into camera,, because; everytime I plug camera into the computer cord and turn camera on w/or w/o pressing the menu button the monitor stays black.... no image at all!!! I then turn camera off UNPLUG turn camera on The monitor and camera work.... really weird!!! battery charged, blank formatted 4KB card [temp] waiting for new smaller cards . anyone have this issue w/ blank screen only when plugged into computer??? help!!!!!!!! I cant d/l update without a screen

all my questions come from reading the info at Feature Comparison - Pentax P-TTL Flash Comparison notice the last 2 columns reguarding 2nd flash and auto refers to auto thyristor [sensor] Pentax has it in manual mode only as indicated footnote[2].. 58 yes 52 no... this feature seems important if you read its description... scrolling down to the second graph shows strobe ie: multiple flashes per exposure [if you click on the colum title it brings up a page explaining that particular column.... understand guys and I really appreciate your help how confusing this all sounds,, I just want the flash that gives me the options needed at the best price, so choosing between the 2 when looking at all this info is overwhelming... I would even concider a different brand flash at a cheaper price if it could read all the options avalb. in the camera.... but, I will spend the extra money if the options are there; hence looking at these Metz flashes... far as i can tell its down to these two for best compatibility!! I am ready to buy one or the other and it looks like the 58 may be better {but is pending firmware for HSS???} the site says both flashes have HSS and this is why the questions here... comparison articles accuracy.

and this reply from metz is for the 58 AF2 to make it fully compatable with the K30.... the other poster had said the 52 AF1 is already compatable,, but in the comparison guide the 52 doesnt have 2nd flash or strobe mode,,,, are these useful features I would want? would they not be needed w/ K30? I will be using AF mode mostly w/a AF Tamaron 20/300, and HSS is needed for multiple shots so should strobe mode be something I would be using ? or is HSS and strobe mode different ?

yes I also read the 58 is good out to the "same focal distance ie 105mm" as the 52,, having said that the 52 is about 50.00 less 1 gram lighter and they were saying the bottom of the flash is bigger than the top ??? between the two, what would I gain w/ the 58 [after the update] that the 52 dosent offer. I mean $50. is $50. well saved..... if ,saving it is not at the expense of lost performance.

after getting tons of info form this and other sites it seem that Metz makes several flashes that ARE compatable with the K30.. what my question is to anyone that can answer it is.... Which Metz flash is best compatable with the K30 in AF HSS PTTL and "all" other modes

Iv read about Metz 50 /52/ 58 /af1/af2/ could I get some clarification as the info from some of the articles and feedback Iv recvd hasnt addressed the zoom issue specfically.... which of these flashes do the job with the zoom macro lens [and updates firmware]??... I do apoligize to all because this question has been addressed before, but; I would like clarification for the zoom lens application.... can anyone give tried feed back?? I would like to purchase a flash and not spend more than I need to . or more flash than is needed to do the job correctly... smaller size is preferred but must do the applications correctly.
I will buy the flash best suited reguardless... hope you guys understand how intimidating the choices are for a newbi

you said you are using the 52 is that the AF1 or AF2 and a previous poster said the high speed sync doesnt work..... the comparison article agreed,, do you find this to be problematic if you use a zoom lens

looks like 16GB cards w/ 45MB will do it and I like the price of the 2 in the pack deal from adorama and I can get 1 pro card also to try out.
I guess Ill ask them when they open after the holiday what kinds of readers they have,, any suggestions on that from anyone?
Also for fellow K30 owners [if anyone out there is using The K30 with a zoom lens] what kind of flashes are you using?? I want to keep the auto focus working with the lens.. I read the metz58 AF2 is the only one besides pentax 350 that works correctly, it costs a bit less althogh its still very expensive... any suggestions on that?
input appreciated as usuall..... If I can Ill order everything at once, maybe save on shipping,, or a used flash if they have one

:confused:question for the those in the know.. memory cards for the K30, I have herd good things about sandisk extreme, so; 8GB? 16GB? 32GB?
and for speed 30MB or 45MB..... or should I go with the much more expensive pro extreme series cards for the faster read n write option or is it overkill??
I just got the camera and havent purchased any cards yet.... I am hoping to get some insight.. I am also going to need a decent but not too expensive card reader,, something dependable that will work with the cards I need
any and all suggestions would help and are greatly appreciated..... this is all new to me
also after tons of reading I think the flash I have to go with is the metz 58af-2,, I will be using my old Tamaron 28-300mm macro zoom and want the flash to work in the auto mode. Am I making the best decision?? [Its a very expensive flash but they say it does everything correct] is this overkill? I want the auto focus /auto flash option to work, it will make things easier I think]
suggestions comments advise all wanted and appreciated

on a different note anyone know what the "cable release terminal" under the terminal cover right side of camera just below the memory card cover is for ???? what kind of cable gets used in that plug
