Perhaps this stuff is not fully knowable but any way to make a good prediction about what kind of discounting we might see on K3 Mark III later this year?
Considering an upgrade for the photog in the family but the price is steep.

You may need to update some of the prices on that. i.e. the DA 35mm and 50mm are listed significantly cheaper at B&H than on the site's BF list.

(Feb 17 update: Tamron 28-75 is sold, 70mm DA limited lens is still looking for a good home)
Two items for sale from my wife's collection. Apologies for the iphone photos. She's the photographer - I'm the gear middleman! Let me know if you want more pics or have questions.
The DA 70mm lens is my wife's favorite lens and she uses it all the time for portraits. We ended up with an extra one along the way and that's a bit unnecessary. Great condition, includes pouch and box, rear lens cap. Missing front lens cap. Price: $400
We bought a Tamron 28-75mm last year off craig's list. A fine lens but it's going unused because she doesn't like the heft of it vs her primes. Comes with 67mm Hoya UV filter, front and rear lens caps, lens hood. No box. Price: $300. SOLD Shipping: $15 per lens within US. Can probably do better if combining both lenses in one shipment. Contact for international.

Abe's of Maine and Tristate Camera both list it at $445
400 is probably fair but I'd be more likely to jump at it used around mid-three-hundreds

There's also the DA40 and FA43. I've never used either but both seem to get a lot of love, especially the 43.
They run a bit longer than standard but still shorter than your 50.
I've often thought about picking up the 43 to see if it can make for a good compromise lens to avoid carrying around both the 35 and 50. Then I remember how broke I am. But someday...

If anyone is interested in this flash and saving a bit, I just ordered it for $10 cheaper after winning Wolfes ebay auction for it (sole bidder). BIN was the store price.
Thanks for the recommendation. I'll post back after getting to use it.

Dave,
From some google research it's apparently safe even though it says not to use it with DSLR's, right?

Sounds pretty good and the price is nice.
Anyone with dissenting views or other suggestions?

Hi,
My wife does occasional work of family/children portraits with her Pentax DS2. So far she hasn't been using flash at all. She brings a duffel bag full of lighting with her and sets up before each shoot.
Life would probably be a lot easier if she had a good flash.. But I have a couple questions before we buy one...
1) What does a portrait photographer need in terms of flash? It would be nice to be able to ditch the duffel bag....
2) From what I'd read in threads here, I was pretty much deciding between the Pentax 540 and the Metz 48 or 58 but that was when I thought it needed to be P-TTL. Now that I've realized the DS2 has the option of TTL, am wondering would that be a better option? A cheaper option?
3) It's likely that she'll be upgrading her DSLR in the future but not in the immediate future.... If I go TTL, could the flash still have potential use after we upgrade? As a wireless slave for instance?
4) What models do you recommend in this situation?

My wife tried to get some holiday card photos in of our kids before we headed out for Thanksgiving but our daughter decided not to cooperate. One good shot came out of the session though...
Now we're trying to decide whether to use it or have them dress up again. It's cute but may not be up to the usual photographic standards of our cards from years past. :D |

also i realize i dont have a feedback rating here yet. but this is my ebay seller feedback page: eBay Feedback Profile for arkham_xylem
i also have a somewhat high internet profile which makes me less than anonymous. i can tell you more about that over pm.. i blog at some visible websites, appear in popular web videos as myself, etc.
i'm known to be dependable but i also live online publicly with my name and reputation attached, so you have good insurance built-in on me despite this being my first pentaxforums deal.
