Long ago I quit using the shutter button for focusing using the 1/2 press only to set shake reduction and keep my back button for focusing. I'll use AF-S if I'm on a tripod and locked on a singular subject but rarely hand held as releasing the button on AF-C locks the focus. Plus the AF button on my K1 is right next to the AEL lock which for me is perfect for quick locking both AF & AEL then recomposing.

I have to go along with Wheatfield, I've tried manual Lens on Apsc K3ll & K5lls and for me they were difficult to use so most of my manual lens got rarely used. That is until I go my K1mkll and now I enjoy using them on it. Now as far as focus peaking, That has been a feature of Pentax for years now, I didn't really enjoy it until I used it on my K1. I attribute a lot of that to my failing eyesight not the Pentax cameras I've owned. I find I like using catch in focus with manual lens also.
PS I refuse to go mirrorless. I left using a great camera company's products because they opted to do away with their dslr line and go mirrorless. I started many many years ago using slr cameras and dslr ones just feel right for me.

The thing with Sigma HSM lens on some Pentax cameras is that it depends on what their latest firmware update is so picking up used copies some will work others wont so it's kind of a crap shoot. I've had to return a couple I wanted for my K1 Mk2 for that very reason. The very first one I had problems with was a Sigma 70-200mm DG HSM OS f 1:2.8. It would work for the first shot then my camera would go black screen and completely freeze and would do that every time. When I contacted Sigma I was informed that was because it needed a firmware update to work with the Pentax K1 but they no longer provided that service for it. So a lens that has had that update wont have that problem vs one that didn't hence the crapshoot. Fortunately I bought it from KEH as a mint condition lens. They took it back with a full refund. I do have a couple Sigma that work very well with my K1 but I've learned to do some research on what lens may potentially have issues and shy away from those.

Food for thought, reading all these ball & gimble head suggestions, and I have both as well as a heavy duty pistol grip, for much of my needs I'm finding that for both my tripods and monopod with these larger heavier full frame lens coupled with the K1 using a fluid head makes controlling, balancing and steadying them a lot easier. Still I do find uses for my other head types too.

It's an ok lens but I advise skipping on that one or the other APO versions and get a newer Sigma DG OS 70-300mm F4-5.6 which does have a manual mode. They aren't that expensive and they are much better than the older versions. I originally bought mine to use with my at the time K3 ll & K5 lls, since then I really like using it and happy with the results on my K1 mkll, it comes in handy especially when I want to walk around with a super tele and dont feel like hefting my Dfa 70-200 or Dfa 150-500mm.
Correction Pentax doesn't make a 50-300mm it's a 55-300mm Plm and it is an apsc lens and not really made to do full frame on a K1 but would work if used in crop mode. In that case I'd rather use a full frame lens in crop mode and reap the same benefit as using one on an apsc camera. For the K1 the Sigma full frames are a better option as the next step up is the much larger Dfa 150-500mm.

My Example for 1/60 is with a 500mm lens which is 3 stops below. I don't care what anyone may say using a super telephoto at 5 or 6 stops below 1/500 would be 1/15 @ 5 stops & 1/8 @ 6 stops and it would be an exceptional feat for someone to take a sharp photos using that lens hand held without stabilization at that low a shutter....period
I've dealt with long teles for over 60 years and no way in hell any of that time could I get sharp photos, nor anyone else I've known, on a 500mm at those speeds without a tripod or some type of stabilization as it takes the minutest movement to render unsharp.
Yep testing with digital is exceptionally cheap but I'm not out there to shoot and pray or waste my time for experiment as sometimes the moment one is trying to capture can be gone in an instant, so I'll stick with what I know works and post what I know does.

The trick is to know when to use it and when not to. As mentioned, at speeds higher than the equivalent focal length of the lens it really doesn't help. The general rule of thumb is you really shouldn't hand hold at speeds less then the equivalent focal length of the lens with no stabilization. That's where SR comes into play, it allows for hand held sharp photos down to a certain shutter speed depending on the focal length of the lens, past that then it isn't effective, and a tripod is more advisable.
For example on a 500mm lens instead of 1/500 being the hand hold guide SR allows shutter speeds down to approximately 1/60, a 300mm down to 1/30, a 20mm to 1/20 etc. slower that is when it becomes more ineffective.

Two things come into play, pixel pitch of the sensor and the hard edge of the aperture blade due to light bending off them. There's diffraction at every aperture as the Fstop gets smaller light has to bend more off the edges of the blade causing more diffraction. Because of the differences in blade construction & possibly sensors at what Fstop one lens may have severe diffraction can be different in another. There is a general guideline that noticeable diffraction starts on most lens on cameras regardless of their mm at around F16.

Everything I have ever bought from KEH over the years from bargain to Like New has been received in my better condition then I expected. I believe one time I bought a Pentax Flash from them and the bulb went out right after I received it. They took it back and sent me a replacement right away.

Over the past few years I've been pretty sold on the Benro products. For my K1 mkll I've found using their carbon fiber Tripod with Their S6 fluidhead is I deal for the heavy combo with the K1 when using my DFA 15-30mm, DFA 70-200 & DFA 150-450mm or just in general..
Sometimes it isn't really conducive to carry those and use a tripod so at times I carry a mono pod but though I have a few I haven't really cared for them all that much until I picked up this one from Benro. Though it states as being for video it is the most versatile monopod I have encountered and for me is a pleasure to use. Right now on Benro's web page there are open box available for half the price MCT48AFS6 Connect Video Monopod | Benro

Only if you want to maintain a 24mp image. Since the 1.4X AW AF is crop sensor lens converter, it is recommended using the K1 in crop mode which would give you the apsc reach but reduce the image to 15-16mp, myself I have never found it to be a problem. You can up the mp count by not using a full apsc crop but using the camera in 1:1 crop, you lose some of the crop reach that way though but nothing I have found to be detrimental.

Without seeing the exif it's hard to know say what needs to be changed, BIF is tough to master and from what I am seeing right off the bat your shutter speeds to me don't appear to be correct to capture movement sharp enough. With an apsc camera it has to be at least 1 1/2 times your focal length or more. Then with a F stop starting a F4.5 at 150 and F5.6 at 500mm adding an extender that is going to narrow your FOV and add more F stop you'll need some pretty strong light or higher ISO.

Yes, it is a mis-print and back in that time it would have been considered a factory 2nd being sold at a discount. Nothing really special about it to make it considered a collectable.

Are you looking for fish eye or are you looking for a 10mm wide angle lens? If it's the latter then the Sigma 10-20mm EX DC will give you that without the barrel distortion of a fish eye.

Sorry but I have to disagree, the difference isn't little when your talking super wide angle. On your Apsc K70 the 10-20mm widest fov is equivalent to a 15mm's degree angles opposed to starting at a 24mm's widest angles. Going by lens mm is the wrong thinking as what is important is the degree of angle difference, that's what measures how much will be captured instead of being cut off, especially when it comes to capturing close in building or interior with as little barrel distortion as possible.

Look at it this way regardless of wr, if the weather reports or it looks like there's going to be rain and you want to still go shoot photos. Nothing beats a camera and lens cover.

For tight quarter architecture or anything super wide, on an apsc I'm going to through my hat in for you to seek out a Sigma 10-20mm EX DC HSM. It's not expensive, takes sharp enough photos to get away with and is a non fish eye linear lens. I really enjoyed mine when I used apsc format cameras.

First Lose the UV filter, cheap added glass takes away from sharpness, plus they really aren't needed on today's cameras.
Next as long as your photos aren't overexposed or severely underexposed then most everything else is correctable.
Yes, try to get your exposure as perfect as possible OOC but the magic happens in post processing. The more proficient you are with whatever software you decide on the better your end results will be. So don't worry too much about camera WB, leave it on auto and correct it in post to your liking. Remember this Jpeg is going to give you less latitude in correction, especially, wb & color in post then dng or peg raw.
If it's for web, process in the widest color gamut you can in post then convert them to srgb. Lastly proof match your end photos srgb and that will be what they should look like on other's screens. If you are printing, then for correctness it's best to have the printer color profiles and proof match to those.
