Is there any trick for doing longer exposure with shake reduction?

My Example for 1/60 is with a 500mm lens which is 3 stops below. I don't care what anyone may say using a super telephoto at 5 or 6 stops below 1/500 would be 1/15 @ 5 stops & 1/8 @ 6 stops and it would be an exceptional feat for someone to take a sharp photos using that lens hand held without stabilization at that low a shutter....period
I've dealt with long teles for over 60 years and no way in hell any of that time could I get sharp photos, nor anyone else I've known, on a 500mm at those speeds without a tripod or some type of stabilization as it takes the minutest movement to render unsharp.

Yep testing with digital is exceptionally cheap but I'm not out there to shoot and pray or waste my time for experiment as sometimes the moment one is trying to capture can be gone in an instant, so I'll stick with what I know works and post what I know does.

The trick is to know when to use it and when not to. As mentioned, at speeds higher than the equivalent focal length of the lens it really doesn't help. The general rule of thumb is you really shouldn't hand hold at speeds less then the equivalent focal length of the lens with no stabilization. That's where SR comes into play, it allows for hand held sharp photos down to a certain shutter speed depending on the focal length of the lens, past that then it isn't effective, and a tripod is more advisable.

For example on a 500mm lens instead of 1/500 being the hand hold guide SR allows shutter speeds down to approximately 1/60, a 300mm down to 1/30, a 20mm to 1/20 etc. slower that is when it becomes more ineffective.

Aperture diffraction question

Two things come into play, pixel pitch of the sensor and the hard edge of the aperture blade due to light bending off them. There's diffraction at every aperture as the Fstop gets smaller light has to bend more off the edges of the blade causing more diffraction. Because of the differences in blade construction & possibly sensors at what Fstop one lens may have severe diffraction can be different in another. There is a general guideline that noticeable diffraction starts on most lens on cameras regardless of their mm at around F16.

Everything I have ever bought from KEH over the years from bargain to Like New has been received in my better condition then I expected. I believe one time I bought a Pentax Flash from them and the bulb went out right after I received it. They took it back and sent me a replacement right away.

Need recommendations for D-FA 150-450mm accessories

Over the past few years I've been pretty sold on the Benro products. For my K1 mkll I've found using their carbon fiber Tripod with Their S6 fluidhead is I deal for the heavy combo with the K1 when using my DFA 15-30mm, DFA 70-200 & DFA 150-450mm or just in general..
Sometimes it isn't really conducive to carry those and use a tripod so at times I carry a mono pod but though I have a few I haven't really cared for them all that much until I picked up this one from Benro. Though it states as being for video it is the most versatile monopod I have encountered and for me is a pleasure to use. Right now on Benro's web page there are open box available for half the price MCT48AFS6 Connect Video Monopod | Benro

Also check out this video to get an idea on it's versatility.

Also to give you an idea on their S6 Fluidhead, balances perfectly with either the bigger DFA lens.

Teleconverter for 150-450mm?

Only if you want to maintain a 24mp image. Since the 1.4X AW AF is crop sensor lens converter, it is recommended using the K1 in crop mode which would give you the apsc reach but reduce the image to 15-16mp, myself I have never found it to be a problem. You can up the mp count by not using a full apsc crop but using the camera in 1:1 crop, you lose some of the crop reach that way though but nothing I have found to be detrimental.

Planning to buy the x1.4 extender HD

Without seeing the exif it's hard to know say what needs to be changed, BIF is tough to master and from what I am seeing right off the bat your shutter speeds to me don't appear to be correct to capture movement sharp enough. With an apsc camera it has to be at least 1 1/2 times your focal length or more. Then with a F stop starting a F4.5 at 150 and F5.6 at 500mm adding an extender that is going to narrow your FOV and add more F stop you'll need some pretty strong light or higher ISO.

Yes, it is a mis-print and back in that time it would have been considered a factory 2nd being sold at a discount. Nothing really special about it to make it considered a collectable.

Are you looking for fish eye or are you looking for a 10mm wide angle lens? If it's the latter then the Sigma 10-20mm EX DC will give you that without the barrel distortion of a fish eye.

What Lens for Venice with a Pentax k70?

Sorry but I have to disagree, the difference isn't little when your talking super wide angle. On your Apsc K70 the 10-20mm widest fov is equivalent to a 15mm's degree angles opposed to starting at a 24mm's widest angles. Going by lens mm is the wrong thinking as what is important is the degree of angle difference, that's what measures how much will be captured instead of being cut off, especially when it comes to capturing close in building or interior with as little barrel distortion as possible.

Look at it this way regardless of wr, if the weather reports or it looks like there's going to be rain and you want to still go shoot photos. Nothing beats a camera and lens cover.

For tight quarter architecture or anything super wide, on an apsc I'm going to through my hat in for you to seek out a Sigma 10-20mm EX DC HSM. It's not expensive, takes sharp enough photos to get away with and is a non fish eye linear lens. I really enjoyed mine when I used apsc format cameras.

Colour issue

First Lose the UV filter, cheap added glass takes away from sharpness, plus they really aren't needed on today's cameras.
Next as long as your photos aren't overexposed or severely underexposed then most everything else is correctable.
Yes, try to get your exposure as perfect as possible OOC but the magic happens in post processing. The more proficient you are with whatever software you decide on the better your end results will be. So don't worry too much about camera WB, leave it on auto and correct it in post to your liking. Remember this Jpeg is going to give you less latitude in correction, especially, wb & color in post then dng or peg raw.
If it's for web, process in the widest color gamut you can in post then convert them to srgb. Lastly proof match your end photos srgb and that will be what they should look like on other's screens. If you are printing, then for correctness it's best to have the printer color profiles and proof match to those.

The K-1 Mark ll To Buy or Not

As someone who went from using Apsc flagship cameras for years and changing to the K1 Mk 2 it was love at first use. Yes it's big and bulky, Yes the lenses tend to be big, heavy & somewhat expensive, yes it doesn't shoot at the speeds apsc does, I don't need or use that anyway to me it's a terrific camera. With it's ability to shoot full field of view & crop fov for me make a perfect camera and here will come the it's only 15mp, well so was my K5lls and to me that was better captures than my K3 mkll. For this camera my essential walk around lens is a 28-105mm, sure it's not F2.8 but it is adequate for most lighting I ever use it in and for what it is it's a stellar lens so much so I forewent buying a Dfa 24-70mm and opted to go with it, a Dfa 15-30mm and a Dfa 70-200mm for my landscapes. Then I added a Dfa 150-450mm for my telephoto work along with a really good tripod and fluidhead to hold those beasts...lol

Another thing I like if I need to reduce and go smaller in size and weight I pop on my old film F lenses which I find do really well on the K1.

What it all boils down to is ones preference to stay with apsc, full frame or a combo each of us stay and promote what we personally like.

What is a photograph?

Your asking the wrong question;
All these camera images start as photographs. Focus-stacked images are made out of several individual photographic images, Composits are one or more photographic images manipulated into one image, collages use several photographs combined into one in a given manner, So the real question you should be asking is the age old when does a photograph cease to be a photograph when manipulated in development and/or used in print.

I shoot Full Frame digital and use crop mode when I need a narrower fov. I have several film cameras I really liked collecting dust as it didn't make sense to me to shoot with a film camera once I got to the point I didn't feel like developing anymore, and the only good developing other than that was sending and paying the cost for good lab developing. Plus, after I did that more often then not I wound up scanning and converting them to digital anyway.

Sorry to hear that happened but Pentax digital cameras have never been weatherproof only weather resistant, so like other cameras it's best to keep them out of heavy rain or use a protective cover for use in it.

Unreadable DNG

Not a camera or battery fault, these cameras use lithium ion batteries which unlike other battery types do not drop below usable voltage with use until they are depleted. So unless the battery went dead it would still write to the SD card with the same usable capacity voltage up to that point. SD cards are a type of hard storage drive and are subject to becoming corrupted, once that happens one can use something like SD card formatter to safely do a low level format to bring them back to a usable state. If that doesn't work then a new card is in order. The downside when that happens is the loss of some images that may not be recoverable.
