Does anyone know, if I bought a K30 or K50 camera that was sold in the Japan market, would it have the good solenoid?

K-50 live view question

I'll be using it for medical photography. My other hand is usually occupied retracting or holding a mirror. And my head is often contorted so I can't use a viewfinder. I just picked up a 50mm DFA macro f2.8 today actually.

Does anyone here have both k30 and k50? Is live view equal in performance between the two?

I take medical photos and often have to shoot one handed while retracting with the other hand, and often in awkward positions where it's hard to use a viewfinder.

To clarify, one hand shooting will be difficult only if I have the aperture block problem?

Anyone with this DFA 50mm macro lens? Does it work with LIVE VIEW function? (specifically on k-30 or k-50)

Thanks

Can sometime tell me generally the main steps for live view? After you press the button to activate live view, will the display then show you the image, still stay in live view mode, and allow you to take another photo? I am taking medical photos and have to shoot one handed (holding a mirror in the other hand).... so if the camera would require that I need to use the mirror hand to continually push the LV button after each shot, this is probably a show stopper for me. I am considering a k-50 or even a k-30.

Ring Flash

Steinback: what kind of ring flash (model name) are you using? i am still shopping for a camera, but work requirements (dentist) require that i have a ring flash. there seems to be no easy solution for that with Pentax/Samsung, so i may reluctantly have to go the Canon/Nikon route.

i'm wondering the same thing.
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe if you install a Wein safe sync module, you can connect it to the PC cord. i've also heard Wein manufactures the module with very poor tolerances, so you can end up damaging the metal contacts on the module or on the camera hot shoe. can anyone recommend a different company that makes a similar module for the same price range?

PLEASE READ: Warranty Issues with used Pentax's being sold

I just wanted to bring something to light for some of you selling/buying stuff on the marketplace. I'm not trying to threadcrap, but just feel that everyone (especially the buyer) is entitled to know...

Pentax does not honor warranties for anyone except the original purchaser. If you have a receipt of sale that you can provide with an item you sell to someone, I suppose they can claim to be the original purchaser as long as your name and address or not shown on it. The other issue to know is just because you have not mailed in your warranty card yet, doesn't mean you can mail it in at anytime and thus begin your 1 year warranty from the date you mail it in. It just doesn't make sense, yet I see sellers stating that they will provide the unmailed warranty card with the purchase -- it does NO GOOD unless you can provide the sales receipt, and on top of that, the warranty is good until 1 year from the date of sale, not the date you mail in the card.

This information was all given to me over the phone (and also verified by email) by a USA warranty rep. I do not know if this applies to other countries as well. Furthermore, I do not know the warranty policy/length of Pentax lenses (just camera bodies).

Again, I repeat, I am not trying to ruin anyone's sale. I'm just trying to do what I believe is a service by bringing this to light for some of you who are buying/selling used equipment here.
