Not sure how accurate these dxomark number are.
I have downloaded RAW image for D300 and D90 for iso 800 and 1600 from imaging-resource for same scene.
Converted without any noise reduction and can't see much difference in 100% crop.
50D images looks noiser to me.

Found this.... don't take it personally on me.... Camera Deals: Pentax USA announces new K-series discounts and promotions
------
Pentax USA announces new K-series discounts and promotions
Pentax has announced via press release that they will be discounting some of their K-series cameras and offering additional specials. The discounts are based on MAP/MSRP prices, so it remains to be seen how they will affect actual prices. We'll post an update in a few days to see what changed. Here are the announced discounts:
+ $100 off the K20D via instant rebate until February 22nd
+ extended 3-year K20D warranty for purchases made up to March 31, 2009
+ Buy the D-BG3 grip for $20 if purchased together with K200D body only + any Pentax lens
The current prices at Amazon are $733 for K20D-body-only and $875 with the 18-55 DA. So it will be interesting to see whether they drop by $100 in the next few days!
In addition to the discounts, and unphased by the dpreview "point-trashing" of the K2000, they are also going to be making available some new K2000 kits in the USA market:
+ K2000 body only
+ K2000 single-lens kit (18-55 DA-L)
+ K2000 2-lens kit (the two DA-L lenses of course: 18-55 and 50-200)
Currently, the only choice in the US market is the K2000 + 18-55 DA-L + AF200FG flash which currently sells for $569 at Amazon and it's not a bad SLR starter kit.

Does Metz 58 decide flash power output by itself ('smart auto' mode) or decision made by camera ?
What if there are two wireless slave's (Metz 58 and 360FGZ ), who/how total exposure calculated ?

RH, there are some links for you below to post sensational article in your blog that 40D underexpose. If that many references not enough you can sure google for more, this is only from first page...
By the way my 300d almost never gets exposure right, it is always automatically corrected in RAW processing software and I never really paid attention to that as I've never shot jpeg.
==================== Canon EOS 40D DSLR digital camera review
However, there is one black mark in the otherwise blot free copybook that is the 40D: the metering. The evaluative metering system on the 40D seems predisposed to underexpose by around a stop, itself quite common on Canon’s I’ve tested over the years. However, the balance of the metering system is – or at least seems – biased to underexpose on most shots, particularly high contrast scenes where on each occasion it would underexpose heavily.
==== Brand new 40D underexposing, help appreciated: Canon EOS 40D/30D/20D/10D Forum: Digital Photography Review
Just unwrapped my new 40D. I am doing some test shots, indoors in available incandescent lighting. Shootiing with brand new 50 1.4 and 24-70 2.8. ISO at either 400 or 800, Aperture Priority. It seems like both lenses are exposing identically 2/3 stops underexposed. I also shot in all 4 modes, evaluative, spot, center weigte, partiall...same results with both lenses.
=============== Canon 40D vs 20D high ISO test The World According to Roland
I also agree with the others that the 40D image is slightly underexposed maybe by 1/3 stop. If exposure compensation was used on the 40D to bring it up to the same luminance as the 20D image, the noise would increase further again.
========== DCRP Review: Canon EOS-40D
My only photo quality complaint is that the the 40D has the tendency to underexpose. I took hundreds of photos on my vacation, and the majority of them were underexposed by 1/3 or 2/3-stop. I'm sure a lot of this had to do with the crummy UK weather, but I wanted you to at least be aware of this possibility.

There is no NR done by camera when you shoot in RAW, right?
Was any NR done during PP by PPL ?

I'm looking at buying Pentax and one of major usages will be kid's photo. I was planing to get two flashed (360?) and use them in wireless setup.
Then, I've seen a comment on this forum that Pentax flash system is not as good as canon/nikon.
What exactly is not good ? Anyone experience ?

Thanks everyone who responded.
K10D has more features and not directly comparable to 300d, that understood, but ...
What I was trying to get from this post is, if I replace 300d (with Tamron 28-75/f2.8) with K10D and get say DA* 50-135/f2.8 lens:
1. Will autofocus (on central point) be at least as fast as 300d ?
2. Will K10D have less noise then 300d on ISO up to say 800 ?

Mark,
I've seen reviews that K10D has soft jpegs, but I shoot only RAW so really don't care about jpeg's.
In your last sentense, do you reference to soft jpegs or ?
>> I am happy with my decision with Pentax but this is one area that even a 5+ year old camera from Canon out performs it.
Do you still have your Rebel? Do you think you can do few tests and measure AF speed with Rebel+Tamron 28-75 and K10D with ?? in diferent indoor light?
I've seen alot of comments that K10D slow but are there any measures on actual difference ?
How about 400 ISO noise.
I was shooting in badly lighted musem recently so had to use ISO 400 and most of shots are useles. Noise is very clearly visible at 100% crop.

I understood 300d and K10d are not competitors, but I'm looking from upgrade point of view and want to make sure I don't loose needed functionality (fast autofocus). I shoot mostly my kids in indoor environment with flash.
So SDM lenses are as fast focusing as canon/nikon lenses?
Now about K100D, I thought it is smaller brother of K10D. Are you saying it has better hight ISO performance? Due to smaller number of pixels on same sized sensor?
I've looked at canon 40d reviews and I feel it's price/performance not as good comparing to K10d. Dynamic range and more fps are only pluses I see.
Nikon looks better but cost much more and doesnt' have sensor cleaning (not counting D300).
Any feedback on Nikon's (80/200) autofocus performance?
Now, about pentax lenses. For someone who used to Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 all the time, what would be recomendations ?
I'm looking at new DA* 50-135 lenses which looks good, but what about wider part of range?
Looks like only choices are:
1. new DA* 16-50 - based on Tokina 16-50 review and forum comments are not that good.
2. 16-45 f/4 - promising from IQ based on reviews but high CA. Any real life complains about CA?

No holy wars please ...
As a 300D Canon rebel owner looking for purchase of K10D ..
Would like to hear from people who used both canon 300d and K10D.
Questions:
#1.Have seen a lot of complains about K10D autofocus, how it compares to 300d?
#2 How K10D autofocus compares with Nikon D80/D200?
#3 anything else should I be concern?
