Thanks to both of you. I plan on learning how to use it in Manual. I never used the P&S in Auto (only in AV) but now I want to learn to control everything.
I'll let my friend know. Maybe she'd like to visit Scotland!

Hi,
I also just got a K-30 as a totally unexpected gift from a friend. I just treated myself to a used lens for it from the Marketplace too. Learning to use the camera is a steep learning curve having just come from a point&shoot by another company, but I know it will get easier once I get lots of shots under my belt, so to speak.
