Pentax powered by Microsoft..

Just read this news over on Ars Technica, I have to say it is a little surprising. I think AT asks a good question - Why do they want to buy Pentax Patents?

I don't guess it's a bad thing to have a huge company like Microsoft as a partner. :) Just don't mess with our cameras MS!!!!!!!! I love them too much the way they are. :)

How do you backup your photos?

I have a nice little NAS device hooked up at home with a couple of humongous hard drives in a mirrored raid setup. I also tend to just throw anything that I shoot onto my Flickr account as well.

Works well enough for me and for the most part due to my lack of experience most of my pictures at this point are junk anyway and I wouldn't really be too, too, depressed if I lost some. :) Unless of course it was some of my more cherished family pics of my wife and kid, then I would be sick with myself! :)

Possible US bankruptcy?

And of course there is this:

Despite the Federal Reserve's efforts Wall Street fears a big US bank is in trouble - Times Online

How about a major U.S. Bank collapse? Does this help us keep our rose glasses on our faces or does it knock them off with a unexpected slap? The death of a banking institution like Bear Sterns seems somehow significant.

Neato! My brother is married to a belly dancer. She owns a small dance studio and teaches belly dancing and also does some shows and exhibitions occasionally. My brother is into photography as well and so he takes lot's of pictures of her dancing.

I bet it's a tough thing to photograph.

I like them all very much myself. IMHO you did everything right since the point of most pictures is to let someone else experience what you experienced first hand. I have not seen a lot of mountains, snow, or ice in my time since I am from Louisiana so it kind of takes me there without having to go - so thanks for that. :)

I snapped a quick picture of our LBOJ (little bundle of joy) trying out her Bumbo for the first time. It's sort of hilarious to me because it looks like she's riding some amusement park ride or something. :) She's enjoying her new-found holding up her head on her own skill I tell ya!

Sophia Kate Price hamming it up for the camera.

I forgot to add: This was taken with my Pentax K100D in the Portrait Mode setting. I'm useless right now photography skill wise so I mostly use the automatic settings at this point. I signed up for this site so I can learn to use my camera in a more advanced manner! :)

Woot has a great deal on SD cards

Woot : One Day, One Deal (SM) has a great deal right now for 2 gb SD cards.

You can get the Dane-Elec 2GB SD Card for $6.00. Not a bad deal at all. You can get up to three and it only costs around a total of 26 bucks with shipping included.

Just an FYI as I know as Pentax users we use SD Cards. You can never have enough storage right?

Cheers! :)

Greetings everyone, another newbie here. :)

Let's see;

-37 years old and happily married
-New father as of November 29th, 2007 (Sophia Kate still has that "new baby" smell at a whole 12weeks of age!)
-Always have loved photography, but never really got serious with it as I only have P&S experience
-Purchased my K100D in October in anticipation of the new arrival and have since taken well over 3000 pictures with it (none of which have been published or purchased for some strange reason!)
-Of those 3000 or so shots, 90 percent are of Sophia Kate (go figure right?)
-Love my camera and I have a desire to do more with it than I am currently capable of

Anyway, hiya and all that, glad I found a place that's specific to my camera brand that seems to have a nice and knowledgeable community!
