No worries, I realize in retrospect how odd it must seem.
I can ship FedEx/DHL, but the prices are outrageous.
If I ship to the United States via USPS, the costs are the same as being stateside.
Everything is still available, and I'll be online for the next 4-5 hours, so please let me know if anyone is interested.

I'm in the military in Japan. My zip code is 96387 which registers as FPO/AP/United States, even though my physical location is different.
The postal service on base is USPS. All items I ship will go directly from Japan to San Francisco, then get to their respective location in the United States.
Hope this clears up any confusion. I can ship FedEx/DHL, but trust me, it's really not worth it (maybe $30-40 per item shipping).

Hello all,

I am selling my Pentax lenses. I found a good deal on a D7100 here in Japan and I'll be switching back to Nikon since I still own the glass.
All prices include shipping via USPS to the United States.
If you are located elsewhere, please contact me for shipping costs.
With the exception of the 18-135WR, I purchased these used.

1. Pentax FA 100mm F2.8 Macro
Exterior: 9/10
Optics: 10/10
Mechanical: 9/10
Price: $375 $350
Minimal usage marks on outside, no visible defects on glass inside.
Extremely sharp, no problems whatsoever.
Focus clamp doesn't hold as strong as I like it to, hence the 9/10 Mechanical.
Includes genuine Pentax front and rear caps. Filter is not included.

Other than that, it is practically brand new.
Includes the genuine front and rear caps, original box, pouch, documentation, and the Kenko Pro1D 49mm filter/protector.

SMC - FA 100m F2.8 Macro

Japanese cherry blossoms bloom for only about two weeks each year during the spring.
During this time, a torrential downpour can cause the delicate flowers to be washed away.
However, during this rainstorm, the cherry blossom depicted here chose instead to defiantly "Welcome the Rain."

I like it. The left is out of focus so you're attention is on the right (the dog's left), which is where it should be, since the purple/yellow combo is very dramatic and nice. I think I'm critiquing your photography and your wife's painting at the same time!!!
Do you have the original picture of your dog?

Don't you just love those days with bright sunlight and blue skies? I love the contrast and the thoughtful framing on your pictures, and it seems like NY, NY is as interesting as ever.

Great shot!
It's just such a gorgeous red color - kind of like a classic lipstick. Did you up the saturation at all?

Kerrow,

I like the first photograph more as well. The third one has great colors and a dramatic clash between the golds and the blacks, which I love,
but the first one is great just because of the way the light not only streams down on the city but also, as you mentioned, the play of the light against the clouds passing over the mountain.

I've been here for almost two years and I take about a picture of Mt. Fuji every 4-10 days.... so I have quite a collection of this mountain. It never gets boring!! And we're also approaching the classic 1/3 top covered in snow,
but my favorite is when the snow is completely gone (maybe for 3 months during summer/early autumn) and the rising sun hits the lava rock just right - it looks like a mountain on fire.
On mornings like that, I can see where Hokusai drew inspiration for Gaifu Kaisei - Red Fuji.

Thanks for the info, Dave. I was shooing RAW and realized that PP does some minor tweaks automatically, so I see what you are saying.

I grew up in Taiwan, and these is a saying from that country that goes, "Don't paint feet on your snake." It pretty much means that you should know when enough is enough, and where adding more would damage what is already a finished and good product.
I find myself wanting to push an image further and further (unnecessarily so) until I have painted feet on my snake! So I always feel kind of weird using PP, asking myself, "Have I gone too far?"

Hello,

just got my K-30 yesterday (my first Pentax, and I somehow have bought four lenses already??) and decided to take it out today for some sunset pictures.
I camped out on the mountain opposite Mt. Fuji for about an hour watching the sun go down (and freezing my butt off).

Please let me know how these look! I touched them a little bit in Lightroom - mostly the usual, brightness/contrast, but also a tiny bit of sharpening (is this allowed or considered taboo?).

I'll probably be posting a lot of this mountain, as it's always different and always beautiful (when you can actually see it, that is).

Just like others have said, pretty much everything is photogenic here. If you're traveling from Osaka to Tokyo (or vice versa), you'll be passing by Mt. Fuji (assuming you're taking rail or bus). Get a few snapshots of that iconic mountain, if you can!

Also, remember, there will always be more shrines, but not many are painted in gold - so pay a visit to Kinkaku-ji in Kyoto while you're at it.

Tclausen,

make sure you go and do some hanami - flower viewing - while you're here during this special time. The cherry trees only bloom for a couple of weeks every year!

Hello,

Just bought my K-30 18-135 kit along with the 70mm F2.4 limited and a Vivitar Series 1 70-210mm F3.5 (version 2) lens. I decided to treat myself, since I've been waiting patiently for four years to ditch my Nikon D60 (even though it's been a great workhorse the entire time!).

I really enjoy candid portraits and landscape photography, but I want to learn strobist portraits and macro as well. Next on my shopping list is a wide angle (possibly the 21mm 3.2) and a macro - maybe a Tamron SP MF 90mm.

About me: I am male, in my mid 20's, and work for uncle sam. I originally hail from Texas but ended up in Shizuoka prefecture in Japan somehow. But that's not a bad thing, as Japan has an amazing mixture of high-tech hustle-bustle elegantly mixed in with a profound respect of things long gone, but not forgotten, and never lost.

Hope to share and see some excellent pictures in the future with all of you! Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!
