K5iis + DA35mm 2.4 Asking Price
300.00 EUR Item Location
Luxembourg (Luxembourg) Item Description
Well kept K5iis, comes together with DA35mm 2.4 lens, two original Pentax batteries, charger and all the original accessories and receipts. Both US and Euro cable are included.
The camera got regular wear marks on the edges of the body and around the strap lugs. All the doors and flaps work properly and fit snug, it is as solid as it was on the day one.
Both screens are intact, all the pixels are alive and it just reliably works. The viewfinder is also clean with no dust.
Somehow it looks worse on the photos below than it actually is in reality :)
The shutter count is 24.279.
The lens is clean and nice. This was my favourite combo before I've got the 43/1.9 lens. But now this is my last piece of digital Pentax gear
O-GPS1 is available as an upsell for ±100 Euros.
And if someone needs I can drop in some SD card and/or a kit 18-55mm lens in white color! :)

I think both 50 and 55 are really nice for portraits on APS-C camera.
I had experience with both. And I owned the 55 for some time. It was a bitch with the wide-open focusing on K5iis, but when it was ok, the outcome, colours etc was very pleasant. The 50 is a bit more grownup, versatile and way more reliable lens though. You'll have to try both.

Hi Barry, the f numbers (F3.5-5.6) on your lens are likely representing the maximum possible aperture at different zoom settings.
For example if your lens is 18-55m, then at 18mm the F value will be 3.5 max, and it will be 5.6 max at 55mm. And between these focal lengths the F number will be in the range 1/3.5-1/5.6 max. You won't be able to have larger aperture than the max, but you can have a smaller one, like F16 for sure. Usually they don't write the smallest possible aperture on the lens front.
Make an experiment – zoom out the lens to 18mm, and set aperture to 3.5, then start zooming in, and you will see how your aperture value will come to 5.6 automagically.
And don't forget – the larger the number, the smaller aperture :)

I've got K5iis, which has no AAF. And I've done thousands of pictures, seen it occasionally in fabrics or architecture. But only few weeks ago there was one occasion which bothered me a bit. Check the picture, right in the centre. So given this artefact is not bothering a lot of people, perhaps it's a decent tradeof for the companies to do not include the filter. |

I am using it for quite a while already on K5. The transfer speed to a mobile phone was quite ok, but then the mobile app is not available any more, at least not for iOS. So it is just a regular well performing SD card now.

I've got program a, it is very likely you have already cranked the shutter before. So it won't allow you to crank again until you release it. But for that you'd need the batteries.

I had a lot of pictures selected as candidates for this contest. Was hard to choose, but then I got an idea..
I decided to select a picture which was made just few shots before my K-r died, right there in the fields between those windmills. So this fact has to add a lot of drama to the shot :D To be honest, I would not even consider to participate in any photo contest if my K-r would be still alive. Lazy I am ;)
But back to the photo. It is taken somewhere at the South of Spain. I never was interested in landscape pictures before, but one day just decided to give it a try, so went out to the field. Thus this photo is not a random shot, but well planned in advance part of my learning path.
In terms of composition my attempt was to preserve depth of the view and I think sky gradient, row of windmills and mountains at the horizon are helping here a lot.
Technically I wanted to achieve a good light range, hence the dark bushes and sun in the skies are both involved.
Post processing applied is very basic, thanks to K-r and 35mm F/2.4 lens. Minor shift of greens to the yellow side, some contrast and saturation increase. Plus dimmed highlights and added light in the shadows. I could involve some more "cleaning" and remove unnecessary elements, but this photo is one of those, where I love it as it is.
That is the brief story behind the photo. Feel free to enjoy :)

might be two different causes which lead to the mirror flopping, am not arguing against :)
but the fact to bear in mind is i had no such issue with k/m lenses before those started to have tight aperture control. Those became tight after long time without use and probably due to more humid climate i have moved in.
so my conclusion would be the following:
1) take the "bad" lens
2) mask contacts as jkomp suggests
3a) if issue is solved, congratulations, skip the next step and go make pictures :)
3b) if issue persists, just stop using the lens
4) check how tight on lens aperture lever is compared to a "good" lens

camera has in body motor which adjusts aperture for the lens, thus if lens aperture lever is tight, motor will struggle. Symptoms were the same as wes and couple of other threads about mirror flopping are providing.
if i am not wrong, in kr the same motor is also raising a mirror but not sure yet. if i am correct, then mirror flopping in kr-like bodies fully depends on a tight aperture of a lens.
i will try to find and provide more evidence when i am back home, but for now i just want to caution people to avoid using lenses which cause mirror flopping.
p.s. i first had this issue when i got a lens with broken aperture, i stopped to use that lens. half a year later one of my old manual lenses got the same behaviour after not being used for a while, i have noticed aperture lever in that became a bit tighter. back then i did not care but now i have the entire picture for myself.
