This lens is always kept carefully since it is one of the most expensive lens I have. I actually don't notice obvious mark on it. I wonder if you are talking about the edge of the hood screw. Since I am not the oringinal owner, I don't know if the previous owner has dropped it or not. But at least functionally, there is no flaw other than occasional inaccuracy in focusing when wide open like other Sigma 30. :D

I show this image because I am surprised about the low light performance. This image is taken in Omaha zoo, with f1.4, iso 51200 without flash(flash is not allowed in that room) and some post processing. Yes, iso 51200!:eek:

I choose pentax k5 and become a pentaxian recently simply because my father use this model. So I will share my experience with my father and share the lense at the same time.
