I went to San Francisco last week. Here are a few shots I took of the Golden Gate and Bay Bridges. Any comments and advice are welcome. Thanks.

I read an article about a new site launching to post and sell photography. It's crated.com. I set up my profile a couple of weeks ago. Has anyone else here signed up? If so whats you name so I can follow you? Looks like it's going to be a cool site. I have no official affiliation with the site. I'm just looking for more photographers to follow. The site is still in beta but it launches in a few days. Kenan Irving, Artist | Crated |

I'm glad you saw it that way because I was trying for an air of mystery. I want as little as possible to be in the shots so people can come to there own conclusions about whats going on. Also I like the quote. Thanks. ---------- Post added 05-09-14 at 06:30 PM ----------
Thanks. I'll be posting more of them once I get them taken.

I'm starting a new photo series called "Eventually Everyone Leaves". This is the first test shot to get the concept in mind. Basically the point of the series is that no matter what happens, people always leave. It could be positive or negative but eventually everyone leaves. I'm trying to show that with people and their bags walking away from the camera. This first shot is me. It was done to get the framing and PP established. I plan to meet people in airports and bus stations and get them to pose. Then I'll learn a little about them to add some story to the picture. What do you think of this shot? Opinions are welcome. thanks.

Thanks for the help. This series of photos started with me trying to improve with lighting. You say the lighting is poor. Is that because half of my face is too dark? I was trying to do side lighting but I might have overdone it. I was using sunlight and an additional light 90 degrees from my face. Should I have just used one light source? Thanks for your help. I still very much a beginner.

Thanks for the nomination. I know what you mean. I actually helped with the clean up in New Orleans after Katrina. It was horrible to see the devastation and how people were forced to live afterwards.

Here are some more from today. Aside from the still boring background, I think these are more expressive. The first two are processed the same as the first one I posted. The third is about ten pictured layered over each other. Any advice and opinions are appreciated. thanks.

I'm not really sure if it portrays who I am or not. I was really just practicing with the lighting. I appreciate your critique. It is hard to photograph yourself as you said, especially since I don't have a remote. lol ---------- Post added 05-03-14 at 08:18 PM ----------
Yeah the wall was a definite mistake. I didn't put much thought into the whole thing, I just sat on my kitchen floor and took a bunch of shots. The perspective and the lighting was all intentional though. I did intend to make my face that dark but I think I might have gone to far. The window light might have been enough. What do you think about that? I've also been really into desaturating colors lately so that might have led to some of the dullness. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

I was messing around with a self portrait today. I had sunlight as well as another light 90 degrees from my face. This is the first time I've ever used extra lights before. Then I processed it in photoshop. Any help or opinions would be appreciated.

I agree with you on the second one. I just got carried away with all of the options in photoshop. lol. As far as the context on the first picture, I see what you mean. I was showing him this warehouse and he just happened to be in a suit. I thought it was an interesting juxtaposition, so I took a few shots. Thanks for the time you took to critique my shots. I appreciate it.

My name is Kenan and this is my submission for the K-3 contest. The French Quarter in New Orleans is full of homeless people. I've taken shots of a lot of them. Most are in sad conditions but some of them actually make quite a bit begging. Ive seen many that have new iPhones and drink 10$ hurricanes from Pat O's. The reason I like this shot is because most of us walk right on by, just like the father and son on the left. We may be justified in doing so but mostly we do it because we become callous and cynical to the need. I think this picture shows the separation between most of us when we're on vacation and someone truly in need. Thanks for your consideration.

Well I just got photoshop. I had just been using iPhoto and Pixelmator. This is probably old news to most of you but photoshop is awesome. I can see myself spending waaaaaaayyyyyyy too much time editing photos. lol. Here are two older shots that I messed around with today. I tend to like things either undersaturated or really vibrant. The first shot is a friend of mine walking around a dilapidated warehouse and the second is a downtown shot. Any thoughts or advice?

Here are some more shots I took this weekend in New Orleans. Had a great time. I took some forum advice on a few earlier pics so hopefully these are improved. What do you think? Any advice?
