Very nice pictures, and indeed perfectly sharp. I might been not clear, i did not want to say the output jpgs are not good in any way, but the 'appearance' of the image while editing differed depending on the zoom level. This might only be an issue with some screens/resolution combinations, but i could not asses sharpening when viewing the full image. When zooming, suddenly sharpening is applied. As i said, i firdt thought its an issue on my pc, but there are review s and threads around discussing it. Thats way i simply suggest to try programs first. I dont think MF would help here though :)

Hi!
I live in switzerland and i often travel abroad without check in luggage, so i think i know the constraints. When i'm on dedicated photography trips in switzerland i often take my 60-250 with me, because hills and mountains can give an interesting "layered" look (example Layers | Swiss Alps seen from Mt. Kronberg, Canton of Appenz? | Flickr). But that thing is too big and heavy for most trips or hikes, so often i only rely on a range up to 100-135mm (100macro or 50-135), quite often only taking a 35mm and a 100mm with me (on full frame). I tend to travel with 17mm, 35mm, 50-135mm abroad with cabin baggage. Cropping and stiching is commonly underrated in my opinion - if this one shot requires it.
If you are not hunting for animals i don't think you will use 300mm on crop. But of course there could always be that one shot, thats why we can discuss this on and on and on ;)
Regards

Just on the lens, not connected to the camera - to discharge any resicual capacities. I also thought that should not have any effect on the camera. Proper designed, not even a defect (shorted) and mounted lens should have an effect... ---------- Post added 01-04-18 at 07:20 AM ----------
Thanks for the hint. But with a "locked motor" the battery charging state is shown? My camera does not turn on at all.
I'm aware that no one yet succesfully changed a 60-250 to screwdrive (except this one russian...). Some partial success with limited focus range was made. Nothing to lose - i thought  ---------- Post added 01-04-18 at 07:23 AM ----------
Thanks for cheering up. It's not to bad as i hardly used the K5 anymore...

I'm quite excited about my 40mm XS on the K-1. It's stupidly looking small and has a very nice FOV. As far as i know the 40mm ltd and 40mm XS are optically identical, but i'm not shure.
For my standards the XS is definitely usable to good. Extreme corners are indeed blury, but the rest is fine - at least when stopped down. With open aperture i'm usually not looking for sharp corners.
As there seem to be quite different opinions i added an example (a boring scene and with preset adjustments for sharpening, compression, etc.) as well as a picture regarding vignetting.
EDIT: 1:1 samples are from left center to left bottom corner.

I'm joining the group of "carry as little as possible". I once made an excel sheet with all the weights i was going to carry. What i dare to state after that:
- nothing is lighter than your plastic fantastics - except my 40mm xs :P - and weight is more important than size.
- accessories are important: a common camera bag is likely to constitute 30-40% of all your camera gear. that's why i just used clothes and waterproof outdoor bags for protection. plastic fantastics are also cheap, so don't worry ;)
- accessories are important 2: don't take long cables (cut the power cable, replace the usb cable with a 12g card reader) and heavy power adapters with you.
- if you just plan to shoot on occasion while traveling, i. e. arriving on a nice spot, i. e. not a planed shot at sunset taking 3 hours of preparation, then may leave your tripod at home. Use your bag, your environment instead (i often use my wallet and a rock/wall/chair). and if your fellow traveler is as patient as any fellow traveler is, you don't want to use the tripod anyway ;) of course if you plan to use your filters extensively, forget my opinion. although a tripod is basic for photographing its not for traveling.
- If you have the 55-300, you'll hardly ever need your 50/1.8.
- crop and stitch! if you have your 35mm and you desperately need 20mm.... stitch. if you need 10 and you only have your new 15mm... stitch.
- don't ask what you want to take with you, but ask what fits in your backpack with a limited weight, e. g. max. 20kg incl. food, water, clothes, etc.
so 15mm, 35mm, 55-300mm - 800g?
