DA* 50-135/2.8 along with the F 1.7x converter?

Hi all,

Is there any Pentax shooters out there who has tryed this combination? I often feel i want more mmīs than 135, but i donīt want to buy the DA* 200 or 300 cause of the money and the fact that they are primes. The DA* 60-250 is far to big and I dont like teleīs who expand when zoomed. Third-part lenses is not what i want, either.

That leaves me with the following questions, will the F 1.7x teleconverter work properly with the DA* 50-135?
Is there anyone here who has tried that combination?

Best Regards, Fredrik

The rare F50mm f/1.4

Always funny to see how people is quick to post without reading first post and topic carefully.

I had the F50/1.7 and sold it fpr 900 SEK, thatīs about 150 USD. If i were you iīd try to put it out for 300 USD if you want to get rid of it. With a higher prize you will get it sold to a collector, and youīll probably get what you ask for.

My advice is to stick tight with it and dont rush. Some people want rare lenses and do want to pay for them too. I remember seeing a member on this forum having all the lenses in the "F"-series.

Yes, as the topic says, how many exposures is the K100D builded for? Iīve heard a romour regarding the K10D, that it will manage about 100 000 exposures and I wonder what the limit is for the K100D.

Anyone have a clue?

Thank you for coping with my poor english. ;)

Which lenses do you actually USE?

I mostly use the FA* 24/2 or FA 28/2.8 as walkaround lenses. I try to use the FA 50/1.4 as much as i can, specially at partyīs and places with lotīs of people.
Early mornings and late afternoonīs for landscapeīs i use the old SMC 24/2.8.

Iīd like a long tele with larger aparture than the DA 50-200, but i canīt afford anything else at the moment.

Conclusion, the FA* 24/2 is my most used glass.

Wide Zooms Is the 16-45 still the best with all the others having issues?

I had it and sold it, planning to buy a wideangle zoom instead. now, while iīm saving up to the 12-24 i miss my 16-45 EXTREMLY much. Havenīt tested anything that had the sharpness 16-45 got wideopen. I sold it because i wanted those extra mmīs from 16 and down, but now iīm stucked with the 18-55 for wideangle wich you canīt even begin to compare with the 16-45īs performance on 16mm. Iīd say, go for it. By the 16-45/4, Its weakest spot is in 45 mm, imo.

nitish247, thatīs really insanely overexposed. Do you shoot manually? It looks like you have way too long shutterspeed and using too large aparture.

Dou you have EXIF-information? Would be very interesting to see. Where in Stockholm did you buy it? I live in Stockholm myself.

Iīve got the FA 28/2.8 and the FA* 24/2 and I am very satisfied. Along with the FA 50/1.4, they form a lovely little "FA-three Musketeergroup".

I think itīs a big difference between 24 and 28mm and iīm happy to have them both. The FA*24/2 is pretty rare and often overprized. I found the FA 28/2.8 for 235 dollars. Well worth the money, imo.

Allright, here are some shots i took during the easter holidays.

All of those are at 18mm.

Now, it can of course produce good images aswell, such as this:

18mm, ISO200 f/11

Iīm SO addicted to wideangle and i really miss the quality of the 16-45/f4. I guess Iīll have to save up to the DA 12-24.

I agree with the most things said in this thread. However, i recently sold my 16-45/f4 and now iīm stucked with the 18-55 again. Itīs been a while since I used it so i thought iīd try it this weekend. And i did. One thing i noticed was that the 18-55 suffer from MAJOR vinjeting when used with a polarisationfilter. It also suffers from heavy distorsion at 18 mm. It almost ruined my easterphotos taken high up in the swedish mountains. Dont have any of them here now, iīm on work, but Iīll post some when i get back.

Of course, it might be a poor photographer rather than a poor lens ;)
