Tablet for digital editing?

I use Wacom and loving it so far. I'm actually just starting to edit using a tablet. So I still use my mouse with my left hand. I don't know if that is a common practice but, it helps my personal workflow. There's a ton of tutorials online to help get you through the curve faster. Youtube has quite a few. For me it's constant playing around in Photoshop, which actually is helping me learn both pretty quick. I'd suggest getting one.

DFA* 20 f2.8
DFA* 85 F1.4
DFA* 135 F2.8
...and I'd ditch the DA 21Ltd.
As it is, the DA series is missing a wider * lens itself.

New and looking to get advice k50 or k3

Good choice. The K-3 will take you further I think. The memory card should be good as well. Personally I'd owned two tripods for a while now and actually just upgraded my compact option only a couple of weeks ago.
I think they still come in handy and there are shots you just can't shoot handheld, self portraits is one that I do a lot. The Manfrotto should be decent, but I never used a 190xbpro, so I'm not sure.

The DA* 50-135 Won!

As much as I wanted to stick to primes, and as scared as I was about SDM issues, I finally gave into temptation and got a DA* 50-135. And to make the dent in my pocket worse, I snatched up a DA* 55 as well. I've seen too many outstanding images and read too many reviews of professed love for the DA*s that I have to try them. Also, when I shoot portraits, there's too many times that lens changes have disrupted my groove.
I tried to talk myself into buying a Sigma 50-150 instead to feel more confident with AF issues, but I can't loose with the DA* 50-135:

1. I want that Pentax quality I've been seeing in so many images.
2. I like working fast and consistent. (less lens changes)
3. IMO, It covers the premium portrait focal lengths perfectly.
4. I could always get the SDM disabled with no worries in the worst case scenario, because I don't mind noisy screw drives.

With all that said, I couldn't find anything negative enough to stop me from buying it. I was considering getting a DA* 16-50 or DA 15Ltd, but I still can't bring myself to pull that trigger, so I just bought a DA* 55 instead.

"So Your Honor, ....I'm a changed man!!!" I will soon have a zoom again. I couldn't wait to add them to my signature, but sadly I have to wait to start shooting with them.:hmm:

I'm with you!
Since I've been with the forum, most mentions of DPReview hasn't been positive and according to your quote, the DPReview opinion of Pentax as a manufacturer of "photographer's cameras" goes to show how Ricoh is really making waves and gaining respect amongst peers. That statement implies "If you want a real pro camera, get a Pentax!" So I registered with them today to leave a reply. Now I'm off to shoot!

Good Day!

Where's The Gratitude?

I have to ask:
Why does it bother some people so much to see Ricoh in little bitty letters on the back of a Pentax camera body? When nobody else really sees it.

I consider myself a Pentaxian, but have no problems with the acknowledgement of Ricoh on the back of products they produce. I actually feel they should be praised, as we are all aware of the role Ricoh has played in owning Pentax and the releasing of new products and improved technology on a constant basis now. And of course we won't forget the Pentax FF being made possible by Ricoh. I personally feel, supporting Ricoh is supporting Pentax.;) No other complaint I've read here has struck me like this one, I usually just shake my head and laugh.

So. With all that out of the way I ask; do you feel this way and why? Has anyone's view on this recently changed?
I'm not trying to debate anyone, nor do I want to change anybody's mind. So in advance,
Thank You!

Man this forum is alive. IMO Ricoh is pretty smart. They struck a nerve and sent a wave through the entire photographic community. A lot of Pentaxians wasn't expecting it.(me for one) Canikons were sure it wasn't going to happen, but it is. It was a deliberate move to show what they have there on display. Which wasn't too surprising to be honest. They have very recently asked Pentaxians our opinions of what features it should have. That in itself may suggest it is still in it's very early stages. Maybe they were trying to see if there were any features they've overlooked before actual production, yet wanting to show some tangible proof no matter how primitive.

Big is a nice statement as well for such an iconic camera. It looks somewhat imposing next to an "already proven K-3!" No matter lump of clay or block of plastic, "it say Pentax and makes me drool!"

For me personally: getting away from zooms helped me the most with this concept. The more that I shoot with primes, the more I learn about what could've or should've been in my bag.

He did say he'd consider saving up for a Limited and the 100m WR should qualify, so he might as well get the best. Macro, WR with the build quality of a Limited. But it's up to him in the end:)

FA 100/2.8(has a focus limiter and doesn't need a hood),
DFA 100/2.8(for me the least interesting)
or DFA 100/2.8WR(most current & built like a DA limited with wr; no aperture ring; needs a hood)
of course there are good third party macros as well.

I have the FA version and try not to use it too much. Say I plan on shooting a particular concept, subject or item, I always, "I repeat ALWAYS" get off track, distracted or something. Shooting everything else and constantly forcing myself to go back to what I'm shooting. I eventually get done shooting everything around that catches my attention and finish. "It's the first lens I named... " Okay I'm stopping here before it gets too personal but you catch my drift.

Wouldn't that be sweet?! But the real reality is I can't afford that DA*55 tonight,
tomorrow night,
the night after that
or any night next week.
Heck!!
Maybe not even next month.
But as soon as I can... I'll be broke as fast as I can stroke this keyboard:D

I actually do shoot a two body FA43 & 77 combo for studio portraits with no real problems. My experience is: I have the FA31,43 & 77. The difference between the FA31 & 43 is big enough to justify owning both. So realizing the gap between the FA43 & DA*55 is the same, I'll be adding the DA*55 next, to put something in the huge space between the FA43 & 77. When it comes to portraiture, I have a feeling that the DA*55 & FA77 would be a better combo for me.

In the case of the FA*85, I'd have to do more research before any serious considerations. All of this is very subjective of course.

My normal is the FA31, no doubt about it.;)

For me it's simple. The Bigma! (Sigma 50-500) I'm not a birder, I don't shoot astro stuff, I like to get close but, not that close and deep in my heart, I know I want one just for the attention.

Here are some test shots I took back when I first got it, so you see it's pretty decent. I originally bought it just to see if I liked macro enough to justify the FA 100.

I have the Vivitar AF version of this lens he is talking about, along with the adapter which makes it 1:1 and no longer use it, now that I have the FA 100 2.8. If you are in the states and want it, I'll send it to you. That way you could focus on your lens selection without needing to include the Macro option. "Notice: I said send, not sale." A gift to get you started.

I watched Heie's video on youtube a few weeks ago and it was the desiding factor in my decision not purchase the D5200 and Buy a K30 instead. Trust and believe, I have no regrets.
