After some research I went for "Joby UltraFit Hand Strap" JOBY UltraFit Hand Strap with UltraPlate: Camera Strap + Baseplate

I also got the "UltraFit Sling Strap for Women" because I wanted the most lightweight combo and prefer the curved Strap Camera Straps for Women: UltraFit Sling Strap for Women by JOBY . You can screw the Sling Strap onto the Hand Strap plate. So no need to carry along two (different) systems. It's also very quiet, no click click like on other systems.

This combination is very versatile, lightweight and still sturdy (I've used it with K-3 + FA* 2.8/300). The plate fits very well with the K-3. E.g. no need to remove it to open the battery door. I have not used it with the grip yet, so I'm not 100% sure if the Hand Strap is long enough for the K-3 w/grip. Though from the pictures shown on the Joby site, the Hand Strap should also fit cameras with attached grip.

Love it.

Agree, manual focus with the standard focusing screen works pretty well. There was no need to use focus peaking on my K-3 so far. Results - depending on the lens you use - may vary though. The manual lenses I have used so far were the: A 2.8/50, A 2.8/100 and the A* 4.0/200 macro lenses.

Cyberjunkie, my Pentax history (and gear) is pretty similar to yours. I'm pretty new to digital photography. I started with the Pentax Q a year ago and got a K-3 last December. Good old glass seems to work very well with K-3. At least for me (digital newbie) the resolution of the K-3 sensor is just amazing.

No, he didn't (explicitly). Otherwise I wouldn't have posted it. His name is Myrddin, not Gandalf ;-).

I have the original file that was sent to me by a friend at Pentax. As I know this person for a long time I highly doubt he would fool me. I personalty do not have or use PS. So my PS skills are zero.

From the Exif: FileSource - DSC - Digital still camera, SceneType - A directly photographed image.
Exif also shows: Software - Adobe Photoshop CS6 (Windows), which isn't unusual for a marketing picture and would explain the obviously (?) photshoped "HD".

Of course I don't know for 100% if this product will hit the streets. I have heard about several products from Pentax in advance that were pulled last minute or were announced a lot later than expected.

I hope it will come true. As many others here, I am very interested in this TC. Let's wait and see.

Adam, if you want I can send you the original file.

I have no release date. But in the past unannounced products I heard off, were very close to release (just days or weeks away). CP+ in February maybe?

Photoshop? I don't think so. I know my source for almost 20 years now.

I hope it will be FF compatible as I have quite a few FA* lenses.

Talked to a Pentax source these days. Looks like a (the) "HD DA 1.4x AW AF Rear Converter" is on it's way. It seems to be more than a rumor. He showed me a picture of the new converter. It has the new HD design. I have no further specs or release date though.

Just downloaded both files to check size and integrity. They look OK. I decided though to remove the link to the BIN file as there is a risk that the file gets corrupted during it's way through the net - which is very bad for firmware. With a ZIP file you should at least get a warning if there is any corruption.

! Rather DO NOT use the uncompressed BIN file !

Use the bin file which is included in the ZIP or EXE instead. Sorry for not thinking about that earlier.

File names, sizes and dates: q_v112.EXE (8.162.715), fwdc601p.zip (8.133.616 / 9.4.2013 / 10:02), fwdc601p.bin (15.597.792 / 5.4.2013 / 16:11)

To my knowledge firmware updates always reset the settings. Write down your custom settings first. Can't comment on shutter count as I used 1.12 on one of my Q's I haven't used yet.

This is ist the 1.12 *.zip contained in the q_v112.EXE: http://www.filedropper.com/fwdc601p_2

Maybe Norton is less picky with non executable files. And this may also help Mac users.

As with every firmware update: use at your own risk!

Here we go. I haven't used 1.11. But AF, especially with the 02 lens seems a lot snappier. Don't have time for further tests. Hope 1.12 will be available soon to the public.

I just got informed that Pentax Q firmware 1.12 has landed on the (internal) European Pentax servers. So it shouldn't take long till it is available to the public.
