Just remember, fried potatoes (Chips for the non-US) when fried in vegetable oil are considered a vegan meal option.
That's what I tell my wife when she asks what I had to lunch at work.

It doesn't mind roads with corners, it makes it's own roads without them!
Driving outback roads has it's own set of "rules", one of which is that if one of these comes behind you, get out of the way! And I don't mean pull over to the side, I mean pull right off the road!
If you see a truck coming towards you you do the same, then wait for it to pass and the dust to settle before setting off again.

Apparently the English Cricket Board have been in touch with Novak Djokovic to see if he is interested in being a temporary batting coach.
Well it took Australia two weeks to get him out.....

I went to give blood last week, but it turned out to be a real hassle with all those questions. "Who's blood is it?", why is it in a bucket?".... ---------- Post added 10-10-21 at 08:29 PM ---------- ---------- Post added 10-10-21 at 08:29 PM ---------- You Tube |

Every Burns night (25th) we have some friends over for some haggis and conviviality, and before we toast the haggis I always loudly thank the Australian government for having Australia day on the 26th, so I don't need to go to work the next day.....

Went to a formal event last night and there was an offical photographer (very young female). My wife was chatting to her and mentioned that I have an interest in cameras and things, so the photographer turned to me and joking said "so if I need a break I'll get you to take over...?" I asked what her camera was and she replied that it was a Nikon something, so I jokingly sucked air through my teeth and replied "oooh, not with that. It's not my usual brand...". The photographer looked a me with a wry smile and said "Oh a Canon officienado..." to which I responded that I was a devotee of Pentax.
The young lady photographer then responded with "Ah, old school......"

Top tip, if you add a splash of sesame oil to the brussel sprouts when you fry them, it makes it easier to just slide the whole lot into the kitchen waste

Bloke goers into his doctors and explains that he (the bloke) had been talking to his wife about the pain of childbirth. His wife was convinved that childbirth was the most unbearable pain ever, and the bloke had disagreed with her.
The doctor asks "So what have you come to me for"?
The bloke says "Well, is there any way you can let me experience the pain of childbirth"?
The doctor thinks for a moment ands then replies that he thinks there is a way, but it would require a small operation. The bloke agrees without asking exactly what that may be so they arrange to do it at the local hospital.
As the bloke was coming round after the operation, the doctor appears at his side and hands him a prescription. The bloke read it and finds out the prescription is for a vindaloo curry twice a day for a week. He looks puzzled and asks the doctor how this will let him experience the pain of childbirth?
The doctor smiles and turns away, saying "You've just had your arsehole sewn up...."

I suppose it depends on which language you are being profane in, English has the obvious swear words that everyone knows, but there are also some quite verbose curses that are not so widely known and which tend to add an air of almost sophistication to the cursee when one quotes Shakespeare.
Russian and German apparently are very good languages to swear in,

Just put an order in for a new tripod. As the company didn't have a big social event this year they sent us all e-gift cards, which somewhat restricted which stores we could spend it in but what the heck.
I went for a cheap tripod with a ball head which was what I was really looking for, and a spare battery for the camera.

We discussed this at work, bearing in mind we are all safety engineers so our aim is to eliminate the risk wherever possible and implement whatever reasonably practicable controls we can. We don't take into account politics, feelings, budgets or timescales, someone else has to make that decision against our recommendations.
Our solution, every incoming flight from overseas lands at somewhere remote, an RAAF base out in the middle of nowhere preferably but Manus Island has a 7,000 odd foot runway.
The passengers are put up in on-base accomodation for 14 days, and are tested every three days. If after 14 days no-one has tested positive then the passengers are flown back to the mainland (or a major city) and allowed to travel to their destination.
Each batch of arrivals is kept separated and isolated from each other, so if one batch contains someone who has COVID it doesn't spread. Anyone found to be infected is treated on site, and the rest of the batch is given another 14 days quarantine until it can be proved they are not infectious.
Workable? Yes. Politically acceptable, No, not remotely. Unless the politicians have the will to do it and take the flak for it. Of course there will be a lot of claims of "human rights" etc, but it would keep the rest of the country infection free.
Whether this would be good for the country in the long run is another question, the longer we keep it out then the harder it is likely to hit if and when it does get here.
