Not sure, but you may just have to run the chkdsk utility on that drive. I have this message come up pretty frequently. The data may still be there and the external drive may still be functioning, but the PC does not "see" it. May not fix the problem, but worth a shot.

I am partial to the Tamrac Velocity series, 7x might work for you. The 8x is quite a bit larger. Ive used both and liked them equally well other than size. Both are well under $100 USD

Bruce,
I'm in the business and have never heard of anything referred to as a "netbook". Notebook, laptop, tablet, yes... but not netbook.

Well, I dont shoot many(none) dog trials but it seems to me that the agility course is always the same, and unless you are shooting in poor lighting conditions your current set up should enable you to get some decent shots. You should be able to prefocus on a specific point(s) in the course and get reasonably sharp pictures because you know where the action is going to take place. This would also alow you a chance to compose your shot rather than constantly jumping from turn to turn. I would probably shoot this in manual as your lighting/exposure is not likely to change much. There are certainly better options if you have extra cash to spend, but I think you should be able to get some good pictures by ensuring proper exposure and then prefocusing on specific points in the course. Hope that helps.

Rhona,
If macro isn't a requirement, I recommend the FA 50mm f1.4. wonderfully sharp, and a pleasing brokeh. A very "fast" lens that can be had for around $200, and is a must have in my book!

Tony

In the $300 range I would highly recommend the FA 50mm f1.4 or the DA 40mm f2.8 limited lens. You could also pick up a reflector set to go with it! This would provide you with at least one fast lens for indoor or low light use, and a great portrait type lens. The reflectors would also allow for some creative use of "available" light. I have the FA 50mm 1.4 and like it very much, though Ive been looking at the 40mm limited as of late too! Hope that helps!

Hey Gang! Just brought home my new DA* 200mm 2.8. Was just playing around in the back yard when I got home, but here are a few "sample" shots.

In general I like the composition, and the picture in general. That being said, it seems very "hot" on the right side of the image. If we could have a "do over" I would reposition your model slightly so that you catch more of a back light and then expose for her face. If you exposed for the "hot" area in the current position you would have lost detail on the darker side of the photo. You could have also tried to diffuse the incoming light or used a reflector to "fill" in the darker side of the image, and then exposed the image for her face.
Probably not a "technically" correct answer, but thats the best I could explain. Hope that helps.
Best Regards,

you may very well have a valid point there, Bruce! That patch of yellow is a tad distracting. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I usually prefer to use my FA 50mm 1.4 over the kit lens, but wanted the ability to switch to manual focus on the fly. As far as what kind of flower it is, well.... a botanist I am not! But, I just couldnt resist that light!!! ;)
