Video plays fine on my system. For me personally, there are lots of flaws in his approach, not least of which is the handling and repositioning of the prism.

Pentax K10D missing the knob/switch for image stabilization - replacement parts?

I had the same problem a year, or so after I got my K10D. The part at that time was available. It is part of an assembly and if I recall correctly was around £25 back in 2009. It was quite a fiddly job getting all the nearby bits to stay in place during reassembly.
I would think the best chance you have, is to seek a donor non functioning K10. Alternatively set the switch to your preferred position and forget about it.

Regards

Pentax Super-A focusing issue

There are two tiny screws that hold the focusing screen/assembly in place. Once removed the assembly will drop down and the screen can be removed/repositioned. It might be worth trying.

K10 Menus

Hi, you were indeed right. After a few days the menus, started scrolling again.
Many years ago I had to replace a faulty SR switch, so I was familiar with the methodology. The back of the camera detaches completely, so it is very easy from then onward.
Upon inspection I could see that the silicone pad membrane had become displaced. Care was needed not to damage the printed circuit or the fine connectors that operate the focus selector, when repositioning, but it was not too difficult. I cleaned the areas around all of the switches and used a blower elsewhere. It only took around 30 minutes for the entire job. The camera is rarely used nowadays, but I have checked it more or less every day since and everything is working as it should.

Many thanks for the reply.

Regards - Steve

Many thanks Peter the blower suggestion worked. I had an idea that it might be the 4 way controller sticking, but became blinkered in my thinking and thought that I would need to take the camera apart to fix it.

K10 Menus

Hi, my K10 has started giving problems, namely when I access the menus, after a few seconds the pointer repeatedly scrolls very quickly from bottom to top. If I switch off and remove the battery for a few minutes, the same thing happens again. I have repeated the process several times using two further batteries, with the same results.
The batteries were all fully charged and operate all other functions of the camera perfectly. Date and time settings are retained when I remove the battery, so I am thinking the internal button battery is functional.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks - Steve
