@Dartmoor Dave Great colours from your K200D!
@paulh Love those white boulders. The scene has an IR vibe to it!
Don't know why but I like this place in the fields. Pentax Optio S60.

I have never used a mirror lens. That Opteka renders very good colors and definition. Wheatfield FA 2.8/20mm with gradient ND filter on K10D |

Some snaps around Brixham harbour with an Opteka 500mm mirror lens that I picked up cheap in a charity shop.

The combination of motion blur and almost no depth of field makes it a tricky lens to use, and neither of these are quite in focus. In the Pilgrim shot the plane of focus looks to be at about the man in the hi-vis jacket, throwing the three more important foreground figures slightly out of focus. In the Pilot shot the plane of focus is on the water just in front of the boat, so there's some more practice needed on my part before the airshow season starts in June. I think it'll be a fun airshow lens, since it's so light that shooting with it all day won't be exhausting. And the planes will be at infinity anyway so focus error won't be as much of an issue.:)

Thanks! The colour output from your Lumix looks pretty good as well!
The abandoned and flooded little quarry has been a recreational place maybe for a century. Now it is completely empty (due to some construction work) which attracted people and revealed some interesting objects that were buried under water.

sHere's a few I shot yesterday on the full-spectrum K-3 with SMC-F28mm/f2.8 and FA43mm/f1.9 lenses and 550nm filter. I still have to get used to the 550nm, and I may just go back to 630nm in future for slightly less colorful results (or try a 590nm 'goldilocks') |

I'll need to do some more experimenting with different lenses at different apertures to shine some further light on the diffraction issue. So far my results have been inconclusive. This shot was made at f11 and seems to be OK or at least acceptable. If the weather allows for it I'll have a whole week of experimenting ahead :)

Since I did not take the time to do multiples at multiple f stops I can't say if I agree or not with the diffraction issue above. What I can say is that some images look good at f7.1 - but they needed more DOF than otherwise would be available. Hotspot issues are a huge cause of loss of contrast for lenses when you stop down - I wonder if that's more what you are seeing than diffraction? DSC00950_DxO by brad shea, on Flickr
This shot was f8 using the SMC DA 15. (A lens with exceptional IR results from what I have seen.)

@paulh Wow! What an engine! Nice work.
Looking at the full resolution image on a large screen, it's quite hard to believe that this Kodak DX 7630 is a 20 years old P&S. So fine and well balanced.
Size reduced SOOC JPEG attached.

This street in Sintra is called "Passeio dos Velhos", that's what is written on the sign on the wall, translating into English,Old Men's Walk, I assume the name derives from the fact that in the past elderly people would like to walk there ...
