i found this ghost like layer in my lens.. im not sure if its fungus or water damage or dust or jus simply the coating of the lens deteriorating,, can anyone please help me fix this.. i wanted to make the glass clear again.. any advice guys? maybe some DIY instructions?? my lens technician doesnt have an idea on how to clean this lens.. the lens is a bonded lens element.. it looks like 2 pieces of lenses bonded together..

P.S. .. the two circles you can see on the lens are the LED lights i placed under to light up the background

i'm into a small budget in finding good or repairable lenses here in the philippines...
i stumbled upon this VIVITAR SERIES 1 35-85 f/2.8 lens but im pretty curious about the markings inside the lens... is this fungus? is this a bad sign? its on sale for 30 dollars

actually the lens was healthy as a horse (mechanically fit and in good condition).. the only problem it had was the missing name plate and an old appearance due to usage.. i decided not to take the lens because i was thinking of its condition a few years from now if it was with me... the missing nameplate might lessen its protection from moisture and fungus... its really hard when you live in tropical countries like the philippines.. a lot of moisture is around..

thanks for the response dude.... putting a filter to the front of the camera was my 1st choice when i saw that advertistment.. i also like shooting in manual lenses like you do .. because some lenses have their own character ;) i also like the challenge of using the manual focus...
i followed your advice about the cheap lenses you said... you mentioned about 50mm lenses... I JUST SCORED A 1.4 50MM for 10$ hahaha

i found this lens in our local online store in the philippines...what will happen to a lens without a name plate?
i'm planning to buy this but i need some suggestions... can inserting a filter in the filter thread permanently help??
the lens itself is mechanically good.. and everything is smooth except for the paint on the lens body (common problem for used old lenses) and the missing name plate..:eek:
this lens is a Promaster 28-70mm f2.8-4.2 MC Auto ZOOM MACRO

@GlennG & carrrlangas : i saw the condition of the lens.. there was a bit of dust inside.. bud my lens tech. can handle it... its actually mechanically ok... it may look like my cat's toy (with all the scratches and stuff) but the apperture is good, the focusing ring is smooth :)
but there is one big problem... THE NAME PLATE OF THE FRONT OF THE LENS IS GONE screws are still intact
what will happen if the nameplate is missing?
