This is an image I shot on Kodachrome 200 ASA, 35mm, transparency film in 1980.
Shot from the Staten Island Ferry, looking back to New York.
I used a Pentax KX Camera and an SMC Pentax-A manual focus 35-70mm zoom lens, hand held.
The Image was scanned into a digital image using a Pentax K20D and the same lens as the original picture was taken with, along with a Pentax Slide Duplicator and Pentax bellows attachment. |

I'm thinking they are not using manual focus to get that "money shot"...
Otherwise the lens hood would make it more difficult to focus...

This is such a moving and emotional image for me. I wish I had been able to see it during the contest.
I can, especially, feel Dave's loss of his best friend, with losing my own "best friend" just recently.
Wonderful image! Thank you for posting it...

DANG! Skunked again...
I started this thread about the chronically broken switch door on the FA 28-80 Power Zoom lens.
So, what would make me think, if I bought another one... it would come - fully intact...
I'm only sorry, the seller didn't disclose that the second one used electrical tape to hold the broken door in place... GRRR!
Anyone know where I might be able to buy replacement switch doors...? Or, does anyone want a PZ-10 or PZ-20 (with optional Data Back...) for postage only? |

Hi All,
This is question about the, all too common, Pentax FA 28-80mm Power Zoom lens and it's broken PA>AS switch door.
I just took possession of fairly nice example of one, for a pretty good price, ($14 with a PZ10 camera...) But the seller did not disclose that the switch door was loose and only taped in place. (But, for $14 I figured something was off...)
As soon as I opened the package, I put the lens on my K1 and it seemed to work as it was supposed to... (I'm liking the power zoom feature)
Any which a-way... Once I get the old adhesive off the surrounding area, what is the best repair method for this situation... (it looks like the original configuration was only glued with plastic cement...)
Or, is there supposed to be a tab that holds the door in place?
Oh yeah, and what does the "PA>AS" stand for...?
Thanks in advance...
