Thanks for all your opinions. I'm going to go with the majority and buy the 18-135 lens. Thanks for your help :)

I'm travelling to the USA next month. I just bought a K-5. I already have the DA 12-24 lens which is great for landscapes or unique shots. I'd now like to replace my rubbish Sigma 18-50mm lens that I got with my K100D. I expect it will be on the camera most of the time while I am travelling. I don't expect I'll need a bigger zoom than that.
Any suggestions about the best quality I can get, preferably for under US$400 (as far under as possible as it is going to bite into my travelling money )
Thanks :)

I'd LOVE a Ricoh GRD. I'm going to the USA in 4 weeks' time. I have my new K-5 (only a few weeks old - so exiciting!) but would love something to slip into my bag on the occasions I don't want to take my K-5 and 2 lenses. My photo is here |

This is a photo of the beautiful boy I adopted 18 months ago. He is a Tibetan Spaniel Cross. Traditionally Tibetan Spaniels protect monks and it is often said that monks are reincarnated as Tibetan Spaniels. I don't believe in that, however my Charlie is so special and his eyes are simply amazing, so maybe it is true? Regardless, he is a darling.

Thanks.
I spot focused on the 2nd pic (the 2 dogs) and focused on the middle, between the 2 of them. The middle is nice and clear, but the dogs are not. I was using an F 4.0 so I thought it would be fine. Have I got it backwards. Should I have used a higher f stop to get more of it in focus?
I realised for the third photo that was taken in similar lighting conditions and was really clear, I used F 19. So I think I've just answered my own question. Sorry :o

I used to be quite an enthusiastic photographer but in the last 12-18 months have been lazy and just used my iphone for photos. I'm going travelling in a few months and have gotten my camera back out to brush up my skills but am struggling.
I use manual. I know the basics about aperture, shutter speed etc.
I am using a K100D with a sigma 18-50mm lens.
I've been taking photos of my dogs this morning but they all came out blurry. I was in low light so I was using the flash on the camera. I tried fiddling with settings but no luck. Attachment 169862
Settings: 1/30, F4.0, metering full screen, flash on, ISO 400, AF.S Attachment 169863
Settings: 1/125, F4.0, spot metering, flash on, ISO 400, AF.C
I haven't had this problem previously and I am able to get some clearer pics e.g. a week or so ago I took this pic which is nice and clear, so it isn't a problem with the camera or lens, unfortunately it is me :( Attachment 169867
Settings: 1/125, F19, metering full screen, flash on, ISO 400, AF.S
Any ideas? Thanks!
