Just got my K1 last month. I have the standard assortment of old glass that most have. M28 2.8, M100 2.8, A135 2.8. m200 f4, etc. My only autofocus full frame lenses are the DA 35, fa50 f2 & Sigma DL70-300. My only weathersealed lens is the APSC 18-135, which is fine for just walking around.
What a great camera! such a joy to use and a great upgrade from my K-30. Here are a few pix with my Auto Sears (Tokina) 300mm 5.6 lens. The distance was about 18ft for both pics. I used lightroom, and this lens will always have that funky green mud bokeh in the shadows, but the center in nice and clean. Not bad for a $25, mint condition 300mm prime. |

Just picked up a Pentax Super Program for $20 and shot, then developed my first roll of film. Never done any film photography, except for a long time ago. I used Kodak 400TX and developed using Ilfotec DDX, Photo formulary TF-4 fixer, and photo-flo. I developed for 8min & fixed for 5min. I scanned the negs using a Wolverine F2D filmscanner.
The camera worked great as far as the metering. I shot half the roll with a FA 50 1.4 and the other half with an A135 2.8. I wasn't really happy with the shots from the 50mm, but the 135mm I liked. I have the basic rage and assortment of manual lenses. M 28mm, A50 2.0, M 100mm, M200, and a sears(TOKINA) 300mm. So I need to burn thru a few more rolls of fillm, and remember to take notes, so I know what settings to use.
I see a lot of people use the 400TX film and push the ISO to 1600. If I do this, do I still process for the same time? 8 minutes? or is 8 min even the right developing time at 400speed?
Here are a few samples. The shot of the schnauzer is with the FA 50 1.4 and the others are with the A135 2.8. I did minimal noise reduction & sharpening in Lightroom.

Working on the Milky Way now that summer is almost here and it's visible again in California. This was with a K-30, Rokinon 16mm F2 at 2.8, iso 3200, 20sec.. I stacked 4 exp. in deep sky & lightroom and did some bad editing to the trees in photoshop. This was a test set up for Tues/Wed when the Lyrids meteor shower peaks.

Your heading in the right direction. Go much higher ISO 1600-3600 and try adjusting the tonal curve to get the fainter stars to pop. Here are some of my shots. and Yes the telescope will work! |

Tried out the barn door tracker I built last night. I have to say it worked really well. I was able to do 30sec shots with a 50mm and 135mm with no trailing. This is Sirius with the A-135mm. 7- 30sec exposures, stacked in DeepSky and edited in LR. Still getting the hang of it.

Built a barn door tracker today. I added a bolt on the end furthest from the tripod so I can attach my monopod for stability. It's actually pretty steady. My 4" Orion skyscanner 400mm reflector telescope will mount on it too. I hope to try it tonight if the clouds and moon cooperate.

Um, kinda hard to criticize that shot. Just stunning. The no light zone must make a big diff in catching everything.

Wow, nice set up. I'll go to the back of the classroom and sit down now with my little Orion SkyScanner 100mm. ---------- Post added 01-20-15 at 02:40 PM ----------
I've been doing shots of meteor showers with no tracking, so you don't have to track or stack your pix for a nice image if you've got your settings and the right lens. Oh and a clear sky.
Here's a meteor and my first try at the Milky Way back in August or so: |

I have (or had) the same problem. I ordered the O-ME53 Pentax Magnifying Eyecup for $29. Here's the official description:
The Pentax O-ME53 Viewfinder Loupe magnifying eyecup works with all Pentax DSLR bodies and offers 1.2 times magnification over the entire image field. This is ideal for critical focusing (e.g. macro photography), and when using manual focus lenses.
If you search there is a thread for it. For me, it works perfect!

It took me a while to really like this lens. But if you need a walk around WR this is your best choice. Here's a Hummingbird I shot with the 18-135, K-30 and Sigma flash. |
