Thank you kypfer...I'm able to use ImageSync with the K3iii in ViewFinder mode and I suppose my uses to date haven't involved "extended" sessions to notice any more drain on batteries than what I'm used to and definitely no overheating. But I can see how battery life and overheating could become an issue if permanently in LiveView. And then I still I have a lot to learn about using the K3iii since I've only recently purchased a new one.
The main reason I'm using ImageSync for now is to photograph the upcoming total solar eclipse. For the shots I'm planning, I want to set and forget my ISO and aperture and change only my shutter speed without having to touch the camera and possibly affecting focus.

Absolutely, much preferred over cable release...smoother, faster, not tied to cord that could cause camera to move if the photographer becomes distracted and turns one way or another too far. Oh, and the app allows you to make changes to settings without touching the camera. I have a situation leaving iso and aperture the same but changing the shutter speed for six shots. Voila, right there on the app. LOVE this app with the phone (iPhone SE in my case)...
