The site owner reopened a closed thread long enough to post that, and then he closed the thread to ensure there could be no rebuttal.
The moderator in question also issued a fairly thinly veiled threat in his message to me.
My protesting the thread closure to the mod in question and to the site owner netted me 6 demerit points as well.

In reality the issue is purchasing from a foreign company (any of them) whether its buying from us when you dont live there or buying from canada when you do
Warranty has a value its up to the purchaser to decide what that is
They should just be aware of the pitfalls
As it sit ive had my say
So has wheat
And others
Buyer beware is a good rule of thimn
(be aware i think bh and adorama are both good companies and if i lived in the us they would be my first choice
Still are for some things
I just do risk assesment before i buy based on where i live

Why is a thread like "Defining Grey Market" closed?
Apparently the OP intended to give buyers a "heads up" regarding warranty concerns. Apparently, one poster already found the thread useful.
Is it not a good idea to provide advice to readers of this forum? Were any forum policies broken and how so?
Marc's justification was"The thread in question was deemed to be counterproductive. I'm closing this one before it reaches the same state." What does "counterproductive" mean in this context? What was the purpose that the thread ran counter to? How could the new "Defining Grey Market" be in danger of running against the same (or another?) purpose?
Why was the thread closed before it became problematic?
There are tons of threads which have become unproductive, veered off the initial course, are counterproductive to something, etc., yet they aren't closed.
I believe I'm not the only one who would appreciate an explanation of why the "Defining Grey Market" was closed preemptively.
Roughly three days ago I created a post which also linked to the "Pentax Guarantee issues for International buyers" thread, just like "Defining Grey Market" did. It was deleted and I was banned from the respective thread for five days. I've asked the moderators for clarification as to what the reason was and haven't received a reply to date.
I guess, therefore, my question is two-fold:- Were these moderator actions justified?
- Should moderators explain their actions?
I think if 2. doesn't happen, users will find it very hard to understand what is expected from them.

They didn't ask me!
Impossible to better understand their actions if they won't explain them in a reasonable way. Geez, even that thread started by Wheatfield and then closed before anyone said boo was strange as the last post was by Adam, the site owner, asking a question, so obviously he didn't think the thread needed closing. I wonder if he got an infraction notice? :p

I thought so Mate :)
Cheers :)
no, I was refering to
1. the refusal to consider my appeal against my "infraction "
2. refusal to hear my complaint that Adam used offensive language refering to forum members.
Hypocrisy
I have just been giving them a few days to reply.
cheers
