I guess it's just a total repackaging promotion with a minor upgrade with the coating- it's just like from k5 to k5ii/s upgrade... not sure why pentax always in this cycle of minor upgrades. hope they would drop the price of the DAs and that would definitely get the DA instead if there's no major difference. if da 15mm is already so good- it just make sense how much better can it go except probably the looks and coating.. thanks everyone

When will the Actual review of the new HD DA 15mm limited comes out? or is out already? with pictures and so forth.- is it worth $50-100 dollar more? and does it improve on the da 15mm on every aspect? are the da 15mm strength carry over to the hd version?, i.e: starburst, flare resistance... I would assume you will benefit more on video but no difference in picture quality out of the box or post processing?

-thanks

I read you also had the da 18-135, how does tamron 28-75 compare to that? is there a big difference aside from the longer reach of the pentax lens? is either one way sharper than the other at the same focal length? not sure if the price of the pentax is really worth it to choose it over the tamron IQ-wise

Thanks for all the resposes, it's been all informative. and yes am referring to the FA series limited.. I even forgot there's a DA and FA.. just got my K5 II and still getting some lenses... planning to get tamron 17-50 f2.8 and another telephoto lens at 70-300 hopefully the 2.8 version... and am planning to get the DA 50 1.8 but instead, thinking of just getting one limited FA.. that would land me either 77 or 31.... right now probably leaning toward 31 FA but let's see, will have a lot of time researching while saving for one.

I know 31 would be covered by the 17-50 but there's still the difference if you're using a prime lens. am i correct on that one? do we still need to consider the crop factor of the FA 31mm limited?--that would make it closer to 50, but either way I guess I would prefer the bigger field of view between 77 and 31 but who knows it might change along the way as I read more about the limiteds.

would like to get an advise about the limited lens. would be planning to at least save for one limited in my arsenal. what would be the best lens that anyone can suggest... in terms of the flexibility of application.- I assume sharpness would not be an issue among the limited. am reading good ones about the FA 77mm and FA 31mm limited,,, does it always boils down to how much field of view you want?.

if you can only get one limited (regardless of price) what would you get and why?

thank you

Does the Mirror Flop fixed by pentax?

Been reading a lot about the mirror flopping on k-5 caued mainly by a board in the camera. My question would be

1. does the mirror flopping issue ever fixed by Pentax on some newly manufactured K-5? or was the entire line had this issue?
2. If I buy a K-5 today listed as new? does it guarantee it got the fix needed.

never read a thread about this being fixed by pentax on k5 system from the manufacture line.

or is it just safer to get k 5 iis, K-5 price is really a better deal if the difference between the two is subtle.

thanks

k5 or k5 iis

Thanks Adam that is good to know. regarding lenses, i want to probably collect 2-3 lenses and would like to get your input on what's the best for portrait and sports...

I. for portrait does the shorter range and lower f-stop always works the best? i.e 35mm /f1.4, on the nikons, heard 70-300 f2.8 works does it work the same for the k5? i own d70 and decided it's time to upgrade to d7100 then i bumped into the K5s and it easily convinced me to get a pentax.

II. for sports and portraits, is it advisable to get the k5 iis? been getting reviews that some people prefer IIs if they do landscape.
III. Read on one review the K5 had an AF issue when you move away from the subject or the subject is moving, is this something that is really in issue? or it's a case by case basis.

thanks again.

k5 or k5 iis

I've read on other forums 5iis is better than k5 bec of its low light af. Is the low light af is really 500 dollars worthy to upgrade. Is K5 af really that bad? Might to lean on getting k5 iis coz of the new af safox system and lowlight plus the no AA filter for sharper image. Until this analysis from snapshot. See link below

Pentax K-5 IIs vs K-5 - Our Analysis

K5 not only matched the iis in image quality but the score seems to suggest its way bbetter than k5 iis. Alao has a faster autofocus. Any take on this?
