I don't know if I used the quote button right. I felt like I was about to do it wrong.....so I'll do it like this:

@ TER_OR: Home ? Well, thank you, sir............I might just have to kick my shoes off.

@ Jean: Thank you very much. (Especially considering how far your greeting came from.)

@ Patrick: Thank you much. I will try to represent the brand and its devotees well.

@ Yos: Thank you, thank you, fellow Pentaxian. As you can tell, the fun began as soon as the battery charger light switched off. :)

@ Kerrowdown: Thanks a lot, fam. I see that we're in agreement: The best place for a camera is everywhere you can take it.

@ QBlade: Being that I'm a purist with how I shoot (and edit), your compliment is encouraging. Fuel for the fire. Thank you very kindly.

Good day fellow Pentax disciples –

I am truly happy to be a part of the proud (and mainstream-defying) Pentax camera owner community.
I joined this site in May.
However, for the cause of not wanting to remain wet behind the ears with my (then) brand-new Pentax K5ii, I've been on a shooting binge, and I had forgotten that I hadn't introduced myself. (Shame on me.)

I did a ton of reading about cameras before I made my decision to go Pentax. I read for MONTHS beforehand.
I bought my K5ii in late February, along with a DA* 55mm f/1.4 lens (hence, the number in my photographer name).

A main part of why I chose a K5ii is that during my camera research, I got tired of reading camera forum......after forum......after forum......of people arguing about BS spec sheets comparing various models of the Big 2 camera brands (I'm sure you all know who they are, and what those arguments entail).

I got sick of reading reading obsessive technological babble/arguments/debates from people supposedly wanting to be creatively different......yet they were while talking the same talk about doing the same thing, while using the same tools, from the same companies. It was ridiculous.

I wanted to read the thoughts/opinions of people who love to go out and shoot...especially those with more of a purist approach to photography. I wasn't finding that amongst the arguing Big 2 crowd (granted, that was MY experience). I simply wanted a good camera that felt good in my hand, along with good, fast prime lens. The K5ii's weather sealing, quiet shutter, and uniqueness (and the heritage) of the brand is what sealed my purchase decision.

I haven't looked back.

Since I bought it, I enjoy stepping everywhere with a camera (from an underdog brand) that few others own.
(Granted, I'd have no problem with Pentaxes becoming more popular. But I like the mentality of Pentax owners as it is.)

I'll cut this short here, since I'm sure newbies aren't expected to post long threads.
I have included some photos I shot with my K5ii......as token of thanks for your time in reading my first post.
I look forward to chatting and learning with all of you in this loyal camera community.
