Yes, the cards read and write on my computers with USB 3.0 and work perfectly in my K5ii.

I have several Sony 32GB Class 10 Memory Cards that all display Memory Card Error when inserted in my K-3. This occurred using both the original firmware and the updated Firmware v1.01. These cards work perfectly in my K5ii. I have tried reformatting these cards but they still display Memory Card Error whenever I insert them in the camera.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a solution?

Glad you're on board.The workshop is being led by Lorne Resnick. He gave a seminar at the B&H Event Space on travel photography back in 2012. The feedback on his workshops was very positive. In case your interested, I've linked the seminar from youtube.

Hi frogoutofwater:
Always happy to see another Pentaxian in the Big Apple. I just bought a K-3 to take with me on a photography workshop to Cuba next week. Still trying to get comfortable with the camera before the trip.
I live on the UES and am a member of several NYC photography meetup groups on Yahoo. Although it's almost a badge of courage to be the only Pentaxian on these shoots, it would be nice to have another Pentaxian along. I'm not a birder, my longest lens is the DA* 50-135, but am open to most any other kinds of shoots. I'm actually hoping to shoot the Frog exhibit at the Museum of Natural History when I get back from my trip, if that's of any interest to you. You could shoot some other frogs out of water(LOL). I'll be back from my trip on the 22nd. Feel free to msg me.

The specs on the B&H Extreme card shows 60MB/s Maximum Write Speed and 80MB/s Maximum Read Speed.

I would have liked to have ordered from B&H (they're in my neighborhood), but I was too cheap to pay the 9% tax I would have been stuck with.

I preordered the K-3 on Day 1, October 7th at the Pentax Webstore. I just received this email telling me that the K-3 is "temporarily out of stock" and is expected to ship within 30 days. It is hard to believe that my order would not be filled in the first batch since I preordered on the first day they were accepting orders. Did anyone else who preordered at the Webstore get this email?
This is the email:

From what I understand, the Apps I am considering work as if it's a standalone GPS and therefore there are no roaming charges. They can work in the background with the phone on sleep.

Thanks for the info. I think I've got it narrowed down to 3 Apps for the iPhone that have the highest number and best reviews. They are each $4 or less. The 3 are MotionX ,
Geotag Photos, and gps4cam Pro. One of the things I'd like to find out in addition to accuracy is if there is a difference in battery draw on the iPhone, as I am likely to be out shooting all day. If anyone has any experience with any of these, please let me know.

Thanks for the link. I did come across a few geotagging apps for the iPhone. I was just hoping for some recommendations from members of this forum who I trust more than posters at the iTunes store. I also need to make sure it will ultimately sync with DNG.
As to the smartphone issue, the Cuban customs website states that mobile phones are allowed. From what I have read, people have not had problems with iPhones..

I'm traveling to Cuba in Dec and am looking for a way to geotag my photos. Cuba does not permit geotagging devices. I understand that there are smartphone apps that once you sync to the time on your camera, you can then sync up later in Lightroom to geotag your photos. Does anyone have any current experience/recommendations with these apps?

FYI....Found this 12 minute video on YouTube explaining the Features and Specifications of the K-3. The reviewer (Spyros Heniadis of selfhelpphotographer.com ) is very very enthusiastic about the camera.

I understand that the Pentax 2-Year Extended Warranty must be purchased within 30 days of the camera purchase.
If you Pre-Order the K-3, does that 30 day period begin on:
1. The date you Pre-Order the camera? (The camera may not be shipped within 30 days if you Pre-Order now.)
2. The date the camera is shipped by B&H?
3. The date the camera is delivered to the purchaser?

DxO in combination with SONY is offering a free license for their FilmPack 3 Essential software. You need to supply your email address and they will email you an activation code.
This is a Film Simulation software that can be used as a plugin or standalone. I haven't used it myself, but I figured at this price I could afford to play around with it and others might too.

Hi Everyone:
Just upgraded to the K-5ii from the K20D. I guess that means that the K-3 will be introduced tomorrow.(LOL)
I'm an old Minolta SRT-101 and XE-7 guy, bought new and still own.....so I guess I'm one of the older members on the forum. Photography was a lot simpler back then.
Might need a litlle help getting up to speed on the K-5ii.
