Thanks for your help guys. Most probably will be getting a tamron 17-50mm for now.
Really want to know, why can't they just release a lens with fixed aperture, of lets say 2.8 with a focal length of 10-250mm. I would pay any price for that...

Thanks for your comment! About the limited lenses, i just do not understand the hole thing about the prime single focal length, I just can not use a camera that has no focus at all... Maybe that is because of a lack of any experience.

Hi!

I am a new one here. Also kind of new to photography. Several months ago got myself a k-01 on ebay for very cheap (around £250 with a 18-55 lens), the only reason of me buying it was that I really loved the design, even though I have read a number of threads about bad construction of the sd card slot door which is hard to close properly, also bad ergonomics overall. But while using it for two of my last holiday trips I have realised that I need something with a view finder, better lens, better ergonomics, strong body, and faster zoom, other then that I was totally happy with my k-01, and have to say, I have enjoyed the looks of people lol.

So now I am back to my uni, and have already spent day or two looking on the internet, what is the camera that will suit me most... Just putting it shortly, in reality I have around £800 ($1250) to spend. So I have bought a body only k5ii on ebay for £500 and now I am thinking about a lens.

I have used the 18-55 variable aperture lens on my k-01, and at most times, the focal lenght was set on the 18mm-24mm, and when I had to soom something in, that was in a long distance from me, I zoomed to 55mm and every single time I did it I kept feeling a lack of additional of 50-300mm focal length lol.

So now looking at the options for the k5ii, I basically have three of them:
1. Sigma EX DG Macro 24-70mm f/2.8 without HSM for around £230 ($353) (worried about the 24mm minimum focal length)
2. Pentax SMC DA 16-50mm f/2.8 Lens VGC for around £300 ($460)
3. Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 around £210 ($320)

Can you please let me know which one is the "best" and please explain why.

Thanks for your help!!
