Too bad I missed those 18-135 mm WRs on that famous auction site selling for £10 each.

That's very expensive but I will look at the DA 16-45 4.0 as an alternative.
If I were to instead get some primes (eg. 21mm + 40mm) would that be a bad idea? I like the idea of using my feet instead of a zoom but at the same time changing lenses all the time will be quite annoying.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'm certainly considering buying used to save me money so currently I'm looking at a K5 plus Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 that I may be able to get for around £500; maybe I could even sell the K7 and upgrade to a K5 while I'm at it with very little if any loss.
Would you say these lenses will be quite a step up from the kit lenses?

Hello. I've had a Pentax K7 for about two years now and I really feel that to get the most out of my camera, I need to move beyond the kit lenses (18-55 WR and 50-200 WR). I have two manual focus lenses that I use: a Pentax-A 28mm 2.8 and a Pentax-A 50mm 1.7. I really like the 50mm for the large aperture and the detail I can get out of it, but the focal length is a little long. The 28mm is better in this respect but the manual focus and lack of automatic detection for the image stability can be quite time consuming, and is particularly difficult when I give the camera to someone else for them to use. Furthermore, I suspect that the lens wasn't kept in the best conditions so I'm not too impressed with the clarity (although this could also be due to focussing issues).
I have around a £500 budget now to get myself some lenses, so I was wondering what you guys would recommend for someone like me. I'm pretty familiar with the workings of my camera but I'm still quite new to photography. The camera will normally be used for holidays and trips, so there'll be a range of portrait/architecture/landscapes. Long focal ranges aren't really my cup of tea but it would be nice to have some flexibility. Around 20-25mm seems ideal. At first I was looking at primes but maybe a good quality zoom lens would be better considering my budget?
I appreciate any comments in advance. Thanks.
