I was able to find a very slightly used, like new K5IIs for $600 Cdn. Would have liked to upgrade to the K3 but the extra $350 Cdn that would have cost me prevented it. It's ok - I have the same camera I had, like new, no taxes, and for half the price I originally paid!

So I need to replace my K5IIs and have a few options - need your help!
I could find a K5IIs and do a straight replacement.
Or, I could go for a K3 (I want an onboard flash), KS2, or a mirrorless camera from Pentax or someone else.
Questions:
- first, is there a mirrorless option that meets the quality of the K5IIs anywhere?
- aside from the slightly weaker flash, lower fps and shorter battery life, would you say that the KS2 is an upgrade from the K5IIs?
- If I could have all the function that I had, with a lighter weight camera, that would be awesome.
I'd very much appreciate your thoughts and suggestions!

A target in my basement?? Sorry - you lost me there :-).
Some responders consider the K5IIs better than the K3 due to worse DR and ISO ratings on the K-3 plus it lacks stabilization on video. What would you say to that?

Hi - I had a very sad and unfortunate accident with my K5iiS 2 weeks ago and have been told by Pentax repair that it's basically toast.:(
I see that it has been discontinued. What is the current comparable camera body?
I also lost my Sigma 17-70 at the same time, and am looking for similar (or same).
Would love to have your input!

Why is the K5II s being discontinued? Are there problems with it?
I have one and have been relatively happy with it except that after long-time use the electronics seem to 'freeze' and I have to pop the battery out to be able to turn the camera off.

I have come across the
Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 Contemporary in my research. Does anyone have experience / an opinion on this lens, and having it instead of the pentax kit lens that i have as a general walk-around lens?

Thank you so much to all for your replies! I will check out your suggestions. I was basically asking if there is another brand (eg. tamron) that sells a WR lens that is similar to the Pentax 18 - 135. Though many people seem to be happy with this lens, others have not given it great reviews due to sharpness issues. I'd like to have a lens which will match the capabilities of my K5iis - or am I wrong in my thinking? If a non-WR lens gets wet, is it a problem? Thanks for your help :-)

yes this is the one that I have read reviews on: Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR.
Are there any other WR lenses like this (maybe faster?) that I can use on my camera but are sharper?

Hi again:)
As a K5iis owner, I fully expected to be able to 'compete' with my friend and her Sony Nex (not sure which model). We both used the same ISO, shutter speed, and old (but great) 1.8 50mm manual lenses. BUT her photos came out much clearer (less noise) AND brighter. Why is this?

I have a K5IIs but am still using my kit lens from K100D (18 - 55mm) on it. I'd like to get a good lens that I can travel with. Since the body is WR I'd like to have a WR lens. However, I've read reviews on the WR lens from Pentax and it doesn't seem that impressive. Can anyone suggest what I could get, either new or used?

Hi forum - I hope you can help me :-)
I have a K5IIs and am still learning how to use it. However, I've been disappointed recently with noise, even at ISO400. Could it be that I have some settings incorrect?
It didn't seem to be a problem at first - only now, a few months later.
I'd really appreciate your opinions / thoughts.
