So, I also have a Vivitar 283 flash. I measure my trigger voltage at 270 volts. If i use a flash bracket and an X sync cord, do I avoid the whole High Voltage/Damage issue all together?

Hello to all!!
I have loved reading this tread and your pictures are amazing. I am very new to my K5 and just got my O-GPS1 yesterday. I have sooo many questions. Is there an "Idiots Guide to K5/O-GPS1 Astrophotography" thread that I have missed. Upon reading the sparse manual it says to use the B mode setting. Does the O-GPS1 set the shutter speed, Aperture, and ISO levels automatically based on the lens attached? Does it also lock up the mirror to reduce vibration? Please save me from myself!! I know just enough to get into trouble. I have a trip planned next week to Acadia and there will be a New Moon during my trip and I would love to get some great use out of this combo from on top of Cadillac Mountain. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks for the input guys. I was able to pick up a Canon Rebel release locally and got a cheap 2.5mm F to 2.5mm M 6' cable from Amazon. It appears to work fine. I look forward to working it out this summer!!:D

Hello Everyone,
I am planning a summer trip to Acadia and will be doing some night work. I want to get some captures of the Milkyway and Auroras if possible. I will have to do some timed exposures and wondered what people thought of these two products?

Hello, My name is Jeff and I am new to the forum. I have been a lifelong Pentax user and just bought a K5. I started with my first camera, a K1000 38 years ago. I am really happy to find the forum. I will be asking for help since there seem to be a lot more buttons on the K5 that there were on my K100D, ZX-7, MX or my K1000. I look forward to chat with everyone!!
