In my mind, too many people are positing mediocre photos of their lives. Sorry, but a lot of it is just not interesting to most people--it becomes monotonous drivel. Anything can be overdone, and this often overdone. I know someone (she even claims to be a professional photographer) who regularly dumps dozens of photos on social media. How could one look back one day and enjoy those photos. It is difficult to go through so many now, I can't imagine doing it a couple of years from now. I think keeping those limited special photos is important, rather than having them lost in a sea of uninteresting excess.

I have a K-30 and love the thing. These cameras pack tons of quality into the price. What are your future lens plans scwinn?

That's good to hear, maybe it will do well with the K-1. It's a great lens.

Cameras will keep adding features, forget about the tech game, and enjoy what appears to be an amazing value! I think a lot of people will be happy with this.

Remember the thread stating that the camera needs to be priced at $1,800 or less to be a success, and most of us (including me) thought that would not be possible. Well, it is. :)

Leaving aside the OVF which I prefer, I don't care about a few grams or centimeters here and there. My Pentax camera feels better in my hand than the corresponding mirrorless cameras I demoed.

I am not sure what FF means. Some of my guesses are Final Fantasy camera, Fantasy Football camera, Fantastic Four camera, Fast Food camera, Family Feud camera, or Fast Forward camera. I guess the Pentax is doomed crowd already thinks it stands for Fatally Flawed camera.

Yes, I mean what kind of reaction do you expect with a presumptive conclusion that mirrors are dead.
It's a shame that technology has achieved such prominence in the art of photography. Many photographers sound like computer people now. I know several painters and other traditional artists for whose work technology has had little influence, let alone a dominating influence. Some posts on internet forums seem to suggest that if one does not have the newest camera body with all of the latest cutting edge technology, they cannot be successful or even a good photographer.
One of my best friends photographs strictly in film, and develops his film in black and while in his own darkroom. He does professional work, and is happy. I would not tell him that his art is dead because he is not using a digital camera.
I think many of us forget that art is different things to different people and whether the artist is happy with his or her work, and what a third person takes away from it is paramount, not whether the artist's tools could have been improved.

To an outsider, I am sure a lot of us sound like a bunch of whiny, spoiled brats. Take some photos, and enjoy what you have. If you need something else, work toward that goal--taking photos along the way, of course.

I have thought the same thing. Seeing that negative title nearly everyday for a great camera, when the posts in the thread have nothing to do with the camera, irks me.

I also heard rumors that Sony will scale back its consumer products division, and that its most profitable business is insurance; and that Panasonic will be getting out of the camera industry.

I can definitively see the problem that mobile phones pose for camera manufactures. However, what I do not understand is why there are still so many point and shoot cameras available. For example, I ran a search on B&H for Canon point and shoot cameras, and it pulled up 43 PowerShot models. A similar search for Nikon pulled up 51 Coolpix models. Additional searches revealed 35 for Panasonic and 45 for Samsung, etc.!?! I do not understand why there are so many point and shoot models, especially considering the wide use of mobile phones.

Good decision jrcastillo! I made the same choice a month or so ago after conducting a lot of research. I made the right choice.

That's a good point. At its worst, the computer can become a bit of crutch, encourage laziness, and discourage people from learning good technique. I see that with music recording, where so much time is spent in the computer correcting and modifying audio. Sometimes all of that processing strips the music of its personality, and results in the attitude that if I don't perform well it doesn't matter, it can always be corrected later.
Many people can get overly obsessive in having to have the latest model of a product. I am new to Pentax and one thing I liked when I was researching the various brands was that the newer Pentax models offered modest improvements, but did not render the older models obsolete. The decision as to which one to buy was hard. Unfortunately, many average Joes going to a big box store get caught up in the megapixel stats, as if that spec is the only thing that matters. Salespeople in some of those stores often don't help the situation. For example, whether resistance, a great viewfinder, and solid body often get overlooked. It's sort of like people who just compare 0-60 acceleration when buying a sport scar.
The new Pentax camera seems very solid to me.
