I would have to say Macro, I am not really good at it at all. Some of the photos that people post on these forums and others of Macro subjects are really nice. But then again I need to invest in a real Macro lens.

I also have this lens and agree with the previous posters. I wanted to order the 50 1.4 but it is out of stock everywhere, so I went ahead with the 40 2.8. I am very happy with it.

My K10d just arrived in the mail today, my lenses should be here tomorrow, waiting is the hard part.:( I was wondering if anyone knew of a good screen protector for the K10d? I like the big bright LCD and would like it to stay scratch free if possible. Thanks for the help.

I used to read the forums on DPR, I never posted since you can't set up an account with a webmail address such as yahoo. I am glad this one does. I moved to this forum after hearing about it on DPR. DPR's Pentax forum has gone down hill fast.

It looks like you may want to look at a dedicated macro lens. The Tamrom you are looking at only has a magnification of 1:2.9 so it really isn't all that much of a macro lens. A true macro lens will get you down to 1:1, so the object you are taking a shot of will look life size. I know Pentax makes a 50mm and 100mm macro lens that you can get. If you want to go third party just make sure the magnification is 1:1. I hope this helps, when you do get your camera gear be sure to post some photos.

You may also want to look at the 10-17 fisheye, it looks like a nice lens. I guess it will depend if you like the fisheye distortion or not.

I went ahead and order my camera from buydig.com, since they had K10ds in stock and they were only $899 no tax or shipping. I went ahead and got my lenses at B&H since buydig didn't have the best selection on Pentax lenses. I do most of my online ordering from B&H though.
