Currently, I shoot with a Fujifilm Finepix F72 EXR compact digital camera. In the past, I shot with a K1000, using 28/2.8, 35/2.8, 50/1.4, and 200/4 Pentax SMC lenses and a Takumar 135/2.5 lens. In 2006 I sold this equipment not anticipating that the lenses would be compatible with DSLR's.
Now, I am considering purchasing a Pentax K-30 with the 18-55 kit lens, a Takumar 135/2.5, Pentax SMC 50/2, Pentax SMC 28/2.8 manual focus lenses. I enjoy shooting with my compact and take it with me on trips. Since I am on a fairly tight budget, I am trying to figure out what advantage there is to using a DSLR beyond my compact which takes great photos. Any helpful suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
I enjoy landscape and still life photography, endeavor to made a perfect exposure, and eschew post processing. Here is the link to my Flickr account: Flickr: Adam Isaacson's Photostream.
