Pentax ESII light meter problem

I think the Fujinon EBC m42 lenses may have a extra pin over normal m42 lenses - could this be conflicting with the ESII?

No offence taken. I've come a cropper more than once when witty aside hasn't read the intended way in a forum.

I think Ron is querying the GRIII; as far as I know the GRIII was released in mid March and the TIPA Awards seem to have been announced on 17th March. Assuming the awards were decided a bit before the announcement the Ron is probably rightly questioning if the decision was made prior to the camera coming on the market?

Like you I tend to print on Glossy. I also have an Epson printer and I use the Ilford Galerie paper which gives really good results. I'll state now that I have no experience with their pearl version but the reviews on Amazon Ilford Galerie Prestige Smooth Pearl A4 25 sheets: Amazon.co.uk: Amazon.co.uk: seems to suggest that this is every bit as good as their glossy paper

Pentax MZ-5n reading the aperture set on the lens

I bought an MZ-5n a few years back but have finally decided to pop a film into it. I was trying it out to familiarise myself but I was surprised that it displayed a different aperture in the viewfinder to that set on the lens
I tried it with two different zoom lenses (a 28-80mm FA and a 35-80mm F) and in each case it initially showed a smaller aperture in the viewfinder display than the one set on the barrel of the lens. As a test I looked through the viewfinder and slowly zoomed out to the widest focal length and with both lenses I could see the aperture displayed in the viewfinder changing until, at the widest setting, the viewfinder showed the same aperture as the lens.
Given that each lens I tested had a variable maximum aperture am I right in thinking the camera display is showing an 'effective' aperture the lens is at due to the variable aperture and is working correctly?

I think the cradle closes below the eyepiece to help prevent the accessory shoe from accidentally sliding off

I think there will always be an proportions of users who will upgrade to the latest version regardless of the condition of the existing kit. It's certainly common with cars.
When I was at college I had a friend who couldn't walk past a camera shop without buying a new camera; handy to know because he ended up selling the earlier camera on very cheaply and you could buy it safe in the knowledge that it was a couple of months old and had one careful owner since new - I got my first serious camera, a Fujica STX-1, this way. But I sort of wished I had held on because he sold a classmate an Olympus OM2 a couple of months later.

that's amazing, it would never have crossed my mind to mount a 110 lens onto a k-mount camera. Does it work solely as a macro lens?

I'm struggling to see any deals at the moment. Looking at Amazon, the prices have either held up or no new lenses are available. I suspect Nikon have learned a lesson and allowed stocks to run down before it became clear the system would be developed no further. A real shame because the J5 has turned out to be a lovely, easy-to-take-anywhere camera
