I bought this, works superb. I think it's the same as microtools. S30 is really perfect for the 55.

I just put grease on a 55/1.8, and spent a lot of time trying to reassemble the hellicoid. It was a very difficult thing... I needed a lot of hours before discovering the trick. The whole process is not easy at all... The hardest thing is reassembly!

The Cost of Emotional Attachment

Emotional attachment is an important thing. I would repair it if I were you, you won't regret an will be happy. For me there's no doubt, that camera isn't just a machine for taking pictures, it's part if your life. On the other side, 100-140 dollars isn't so much money. You can buy another one, but you know it isn't the same!

I have a Plustek 8200i and I´m really happy. In conjuction with vuescan and multiple scans and using a correct workflow, it´s great. For BW you can get the 8100, I chose the 8200i and paid the extra money because I shoot a lot of color too and need the infrared scan

I'm looking at micro tools site, and there are too types of grease for helicoids: 10 and 30. Which one should I buy for a Takumar 55? According to site, 10 is light and 30 medium... I'm confused.

Thanks

Got Cicadas?

Here in Japan cicadas are really annoying. We call them "semi", and in August they are really big and noisy. But I prefer them over cockroaches or Mosquitos or Japanese giant vesp (very dangerous)

Nice portrait, it reflects some deep thoughts, I like the black negative space and the "philosophic" atmosphere

I often use ethanol with fujifilm lens cleaning paper, but recently I got lazy and just let the specs be :)

Sure, Kerrowdown, will post something soon, after developing my next roll :)

That sounds good! I like how you describe photography as a tool to understand life, that's really interesting.

Thanks for visiting my gallery

And yes, 55 is great, cheap and small. I think it's underrated, and I prefer it over the 50/1.4 (I has three version of this)

Thanks for the nice replies. Sure would be nice to join here in Tokyo. Since I came to Japan five years ago, I'm enjoying photography alone. Mostly street photography, but recently I'm shooting a lot of banal things, I love Eggleston's work a lot.

I shot digital Pentax in the past, but now I´m using a Spotmatic with some Takumars (I prefer film photography, specially BW). My favorite is the Super 55/1.8, and I love street photography.

I like this space, so I registered. Hope I will spend a nice time here.

Regards:)
