Me Super Question

In pictures of the ME Super online I noticed that some have an Asahi symbol on the front of the prism. Some do not. Does anyone know anything about which ME Supers have the symbol and which ones don't? Could it be just the quality of the picture? Thank you for any ideas.

I should check my mirror damping especially on the Spotmatic F. The mirror flop seems pretty loud.

I took 1 roll with my ME Super. The other roll I took with my Spotmatic F. No masterpieces here but both rolls were exposed properly meaning the light seals are good and the meters still work. I was happy.

Spotmatic F meter

I am not sure what is going on. I took my Spotmatic F out for a few shots. The meter needle would sit all the way up. If I adjust the aperture the needle falls to the bottom. Either top or bottom. Then once in a while the meter appeared to work, but then back to the top or the bottom for a while. The batteries are a couple of weeks old. Any ideas?

Spotmatic F Open Aperture Metering

I just purchased 55mm 1.8 SMC Takumar lens for my Spotmatic F. I was under the impression that this lens would have the necessary linkage to tell the camera what aperture is set on the lens and thus allow for open aperture metering. It does, and the meter responds as I adjust the aperture. The lens I used prior to this purchase was a Super Takumar 50mm F2. It has all the same linkage. I am confused. Some non-SMC Super Takumars do work for open aperture metering on a Spotmatic F? The meter responds to adjustments with this lens too. Interesting.

I have a good camera store here in Minneapolis that buys and sells used gear. I bought a Spotmatic F and Super Takumar 50 f2 lens. I am told that I need a SMC Super Takumar with the aperture linkage in order to use open aperture metering. The same store has a 50 f1.8 SMC Super Takumar for sale. I am going to take a look Monday or Tuesday. They want $60 for it. A little high but it is what I am looking for.

The ST701 is cool camera. It is pretty rare too. Have any pictures taken with it to post?

Hi. My modern cameras are a Canon 60D an an Olympus E-PM1. However I would love to have a new k-5 ll. I am also a big fan of 1960s-70s film SLRs. I joined this forum because 2 of my favorite and best film SLRs are Pentaxes. I have an MESuper and a Spotmatic F. I love them. I was looking for a forum that discussed film SLRs. Thank you for being here.
