Sold my prized Pentax FA* 24mm . Readying up some more lenses next. I need something that can autofocus while recording video. For the life of me I don’t want a Sony, but it’s looking like one of the better options.

Upgraded computer: Lr vs Capture One

I've struggled with this one after downloading both trials. They both are great tools, I dislike the adobe approach and all the bloat-wear that comes along with installing adobe products. C1p is nice but the initial cost is higher and there are just so much educational materials for Lightroom. In the end I just crawled back to Lightroom. Maybe someday I'll switch...

Fotasy LPM L bracket for k-1

I have a rrs k-5 bracket I used on my k-5, then modified to fit my k-3. Great product, no question. Well, this time I wanted to try out a different L bracket so I picked up a fotasy lpm universal L bracket, from Amazon for $15. It fits and is usable out of the box, however with a few easy tweaks, I think it will work really good. One thing that it needs is a relief area for the DC/HMI cap and the other is shorting the bottom rail so the battery door will open. Boy I wish I still worked a machine shop, anyway I post pics of my final cobbled up bracket

What type of Glue for Lens ring

I have a F lens that a small metal ring fell off the back of the rear element. It snaps on, but it had a small amount of glue making it permanent. What type of glue should i use? Its right next to the element and I read super glue is a no no because it will cause a haze. Just not sure what other type of glue would be acceptable.

Ever Wonder What It Might Be Like To Meet Jaws?

Ah come on guys

I did a dive in the Bahamas in April with stuarts cove, they do a shark dive where they will feed the sharks as you sit in the sand. They do it to to show sharks are not crazy killers. Of course these are not great whites. They eat the older or sick fish and are a very important part of the ocean. Although I think surfing is like teasing them, they have no idea what were doing, they just see these danging limbs in the water. Considering how many people go into the ocean, only 6 or something die per year. Probably have a better chance of dating a super model.

Very nice shots. The HDR in first one is sweet. I love that lens and probably use it too much.

When the camera is designed they take the heat from the sensor into account and the settings reflect this. Although sometimes the engineer's mess things up, for the most part If it was really bad for the camera it wouldn't allow you to do it. For example the micro 4/3rd Panasonic GM1, is very small and has trouble with heat, the exposure times and video recording times are reduced in the menus to protect the sensor.

I'm north of Detroit in Utica.

anyone ever do the URBEX on meetup?

I have done allot of them last year, it was pretty cool. Although the price just keeps going up and up, use to be 40, now it's 65 and 75, jeez. still cool.

That's the one I've been looking for the Sigma 8-16, its the only 8-16 I know of. I guess decent price is 500-600ish, which I seen them sell for in the past and should have bought. Ebay has one at 1100, which for that price I could buy the sigma for a canon mount and a canon camera.

K30 is a great camera. I really enjoy using mine. You won't regret it. My only snag is I can't find a decent priced 8-16 sigma lens. I can for every mount but pentax, argh, I'm lucky if I can even find the lens at all for pentax.

Hello from MI

Hello, Just purchased my first DSLR a Pentax K30, cant wait, received the tracking number this morning. My photographic interests are Reefs/Fish, landscapes and street. I currently own a olympus OMD and GF3, micro 4/3rds. I know the nut behind the camera makes the pictures, I just struggle with the micro 4/3 with anything that moves. When I take pictures of fish it just seems like I can't get the good shots I could get with my old cannon p&s. So I want to try out the Pentax.
