This October I was fortunate t participate in a workshop with John Sexton, Charles Cramer, and Anne Larsen at Mono Lakes. One of the highlights of the trip was to capture the fall colors of the aspen groves along June Lake Road just south of the community of Lee Vining

The Homer Spit in Southcentral Alaska is a mecca for bald eagles. The spit is a natural occurring geological feature that extends out into Kachemak Bay approximately 4 miles. It is a wonderful area to stroll and observe the local fauna.

This picture was taken in Anchorage, Alaska last January on the beach at Pt. Woronzof of one of many statues created by local Alaskan artists as part of the 100 Stone Project, 100 Stone. 100Stone was a statewide creative civic engagement and social art project that facilitated the capture of hundreds of Alaskans' personal stories of wellness management in sculptural form.

Kennecott Mine, in South Central Alaska's Wrangell-St. Elias National Park was a prolific copper mine in the 1900s. This landmark is being restored by the Park Service and is an amazing location for landscape and black & white photography.

Gifts to my wife from her grandparents from when they worked and lived in Tehran. Don't think anyone will be drinking from the samovar but it looks great on a shelf.

Good question! It's a plate of jellybeans. Put a glass pane over the top and sprayed the surface with water to create the jellybean effect. A little photo stacking and voila.

Hello,
Sigma has recently come out with several lenses that are getting great reviews. Most recently the Pentax Forum posted a discussion of the Sigma 18-35 "Art" that is fast and takes superb images throughout its range. I've not personally tried this lens but it may be something you would like to research. The lens is pricey but it sounds like it might cover the range you like for your landscape and street photography.
I use the Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4 "contemporary" lens and it is on my camera about 80% of the time. This lens covers a useful range for me and I am extremely pleased with the image quality. I live in Alaska and enjoy a wide angle lense to capture landscapes. This lens is perfect for my needs. I also enjoy macro photography so the lens that's on when my a Sigma is off is my Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro. This lens is also an excellent option if this is a direction you want to take with your photography. I encourage you to look through the Pentax and 3rd party lens review sections of this website. I've found that the forum members do a bang up job analyzing the pros and cons of any lens you may decide to purchase. Good luck on your quest!

I second crewl1's nomination. It's a beautiful boat and all that structure just lends itself to B&W. Nicely done.

I nominate this photo. I really like this use of light play. The cool light tone and the angles drawing the eye around and into the image is very appealing. Very eye-catching. Nicely done!
