Cubbo2, that shot is terrific. And it works so much more knowing it was caught on film, and an MX too. You nailed the timing, really easy to envision the child having a blast.

M Lens Selfie Madness.
50/1.7 on a K-30, showing off my new gear. (K-3, Sigma Contemporary lens, Sigma Super flash)
The heart on my left cheek was not edited in. It was a very pleasant surprise. |

Self-Portrait.
Yes, the camera pictured is a K-3... but the shooter is a K-30 with M-50/1.7 |

I'm really bad about printing photos, but this one is going on the wall in the office.
It wasn't showing that I was clipping in Lightroom, but there appear to be some hot spots that I may re-address.

Made this photo for my wife to show her I'd do it all over again.

K30, SMC-M 200/4
Handed down from my father, love this lens.
Beautiful front element, built in sliding lens hood.
Doesn't hurt having amazing animals to shoot.

Well here it is... (Sorry for the large pics)
This combo is not meant to be taken seriously. I wrote a small essay here about it. Www.justanotherdadblog.com |

Thank you very much. I think the photo made my family pretty uneasy (as it is a self-portrait), but like you said these are issues that shouldn't be ignored. Thanks for your appreciation of the issue.

Only if you are going to use on camera flash, or the built in flash to trigger them. Radio triggers are preferred to optical slave as you do not have to utilize the camera flash as a trigger. I have cowboy studio trigger/receivers. They do the job, part of the time, but I'm cheap. Once you get the trigger situation sorted, I definitely recommend some way to soften or diffuse the strobes. There are plenty of options, soft boxes, and umbrellas are a great start. Also, a 5-1 reflector is a cheap way to further control the light you are producing and help fill in some shadows if you desire.
FYI: off-camera lighting is highly addictive.

I am new to the Club. I am in love with my Rokinon 35/1.4. This glass is so sharp when you nail the focus. My only qualms are the fit of the hood and the lens cap. I have been accustom to the secure fit of Sigma EX lens hoods, so this one feels a little unsecured in comparison. However, this Rokinon is a BEAUTIFUL looking lens. The finish is a nice match for Pentax dSLR's, the red ring makes it unique and identifiable, and I love the manual aperture ring option.
Some Samples:
Edit: and how bout one more for good measure... |

First Off, to the OP... Congrats on the Purchase!
Secondly however, why are so many people obsessed with having a WR lens. There are so many other wonderful features of the K30 that warrant getting it, regardless of WR. Plus, the body is WR regardless of what lens you have on it. Would having a WR lens be a benifit? Sure, if you are shooting in the deserts of Iraq or Monsoons of India. Photography existed and thrived long before full WR kits were available.
Get the lens (lenses) that help you achieve the photographs that you desire at a cost you can justify. The End.

I just received my Rokinon 35/1.4. I was taking some photos for eBay listings and was shocked with the results. I have only had my k30 a week now, and both the body, and this lens, have far exceeded my expectations. This was a product shot done at ISO 1600, 1/5, f7.1 w/ AWB and under a kitchen light none the less. |

Just spent the day shooting around Boston. Lots of street shots, some architecture, some portraits.
This camera is a breeze to handle all day. I use a wrist lanyard and did not fatigue at all from holding the camera all day. That finger notch in the grip feels just right. The shutter and green button location is great. I wish the focus switch didn't protrude when it was in manual though. As for focusing the red box focus hint in the viewfinder is nice. It was too bright to do any live view focus peaking. I initially feared I was under exposing most my shots, but once I was indoors the picture review confirmed they were just right. Must have been that the LCD was turned down to conserve battery and it was dim in the bright sun. I am still a long way from processing the raw files, but in camera review things look great. Good range and colors. Also the review function is pretty good. Very fast at scrolling through files, no lag. I did notice between shots it can take a little effort to get the camera out of sleep. I am used to a half shutter press doing the trick. I ended up taking some worthless pics trying to wake it up. Haha, ah well. After over 300 shots the battery is still going strong, near full (at least the display says so). The particulars of this camera have certainly forced me to change my shooting habits to fit the camera functions. But I love that. After about 100 shots me and the camera were one. Metering with the green button is so addictive, and in 'most' occasions it proved very accurate. It won't be till Sunday before I get my shots on a computer but who cares. I am just having fun shooting with it. Way to go Pentax... You hooked me!
